Admission is free The Mansfield Historical Museum & Heritage Center is operated by the City of Mansfield. The Museum contains two floors of displays covering all aspects of life in early Mansfield and surrounding communities. There is an area dedicated to genealogical research, where patrons may work alone or with assistance from the Museum staff. The Man House Museum is the home of one of Mansfield's founders and namesakes, Ralph S. The home was built between c.1865-1870. It underwent a largescale restoration in 2020 and opened as a museum in December 2020. Guided tours are available during the museum's operating hours.

🕵️Can you solve the mystery? Tickets for our second Escape Room Adventure are on sale now, this time taking place at our very own Mansfield Museum and Heritage Center!

A mysterious viral outbreak is sweeping through the town, transforming neighbors into undead fiends. Survivors (the players) are drawn back in time via a portal and find themselves in the town’s historical museum. They have only one hour to piece together clues hidden among the artifacts to save themselves.

We're not going to let a little rain ruin our Founders' Day plans! We will be here rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., TOMORROW, Saturday, Oct. 3 so come join us for Founders' Day!! This FREE event will be a blast to the past for all ages. We'll have fun and exciting activities, including old-fashioned games, food vendors, a photo booth, exciting music; historical artisans such as a blacksmith, potter, and a basket weaver; and hands-on demonstrations in candle dipping, roping, dancing, and more.

Parking is limited at the Man House Museum, so please be prepared to park in Historic Downtown Mansfield at the Walnut Street and Pond Branch lots. Though it's only about a 10-15 minute walk, there will be shuttles moving through these lots and McClendon Park to the Man House Museum from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Man House Museum is located at 604 W. Broad Street. If you have any questions, please call 817-728-3324.

During Charley Joe Nichols’ tenure as Mansfield’s postmaster from 1948 to 1974, the post office underwent key operational changes—most notably when the government began providing equipment that postmasters had previously been required to purchase themselves. Yet, as Nichols’ widow later fondly remembered, one of the most memorable highlights of those years occurred the day a letter box outside the post office was opened, only for a possum to spring out.

As a part of frontier development, trains were indispensable in their value as a connection to other communities and cities. In 1885, a group of Mansfield and Fort Worth businessmen banded together to create the Fort Worth & New Orleans Railroad, with tracks connecting through Mansfield. The coming of the railroad to Mansfield spurred a new era of growth.

If you'd like to learn more about the history of Mansfield and the surrounding areas, stop by the Mansfield Historical Museum and the Man House Museum! We are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free at both locations!
