Wisconsin Maritime Museum The Wisconsin Maritime Museum connects all people with Wisconsin's waterways. Home of WWII U.S. Navy submarine USS COBIA (SS 245). Located in Manitowoc, WI, USA.

Welcome to a great place to learn, play and explore the rich maritime history of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes region. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum offers visitors a unique place to spend hours learning about the sailors, shipbuilders and submariners who made that history, and to have some great family fun! Founded in 1970 as the Manitowoc Submarine Memorial Association, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum has grown into one of the largest maritime museums in the Midwest. In addition to commemorating the maritime heritage of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers area and the submarines built here during World War II, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum is now a leader in preserving the maritime history of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes region.

âš“ Our Executive Director met with Steve Scaffidi at Newsradio 620 WTMJ to discuss the history of Lake Michigan beneath the surface!

Visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and explore artifacts from Lake Michigan shipwrecks in our Wisconsin's Shipwreck Coast exhibit!

Wisconsin has hundreds of shipwrecks beneath its waters and many may still be undiscovered.

On the latest Scaffidiology, Steve Scaffidi talks with Kevin Cullen, executive director of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, about Lake Michigan shipwrecks, underwater archaeology, the USS Cobia and what these wrecks can still teach us about Wisconsin history.

🌊Catch the Surfin’ Wisconsin, USA, exhibit before it rides its final wave in just a couple of weeks! Celebrate the closing with Larry “Longboard” Williams at the WMM on October 24th. Longboard will hang out in the exhibit from 1 pm onward to share stories and answer questions. Experience the exhibit while you still can and meet a true local surfing legend!🌊

Larry and his twin brother, Lee, were founding members of one of the earliest Great Lakes surfing groups, the Lake Shore Surf Club based in Sheboygan, WI. The boys learned to surf on a pair of old skimboards, and their passion led them to become legends in the Great Lakes surfing community and beyond.
