A friend of the Madisonville Historic Museum just donated a spoon he found many years ago on the David Bannister Morgan plantation site along with some military buttons!! The inscribed M and the silversmith stamp makes us certain that it is from the home of the general.

We also received another small canon ball and what is thought to be a cannon “plunger” that had been passed down several generations from a family who was part of the early settlers.

They will be placed on display in the museum for all visitors to enjoy.

Thanks to people like them who want others to enjoy tangible history of our town and its early settlers.

Come by the museum. Open noon to 4 on weekends.
