We could use YOUR help! We're looking for donations of China tea cups and saucers for an event we're hosting in November. (Please note: Tea cups will not be accessioned into the museum collection and will not be returned to donor.)

We're also looking for anyone who might have Lake Madison Chautauqua items! We're working on a new Chautauqua exhibit, and would love to see what's out there. Please call or email before stopping by the museum with artifacts. 605-256-5308, or [email protected]

Happy 250th, America! It was such fun to celebrate as a community- patriotic music by the Mastersingers, ringing of the bells, a flag procession, the delivery of the Declaration of Independence on horseback, food truck, yard games, and a synchronized reading of the Declaration alongside communities across the country.
Our Director, Julie Breu, a member of the America's 250th SD Commission, along with a team of local business and community members did a terrific job planning the event! We thank them for their hard work!

Thank you for braving the heat and joining us at our annual ice cream social. It was a great success, and we sure had fun spending time with you all!
The History Club students also appreciate all of you who purchased a hotdog and/or brought a car to show! We sure enjoyed seeing the variety of cars being shown, too. Your support makes all the difference, and we appreciate you!

And last, but certainly not least, we thank our sponsors and contributors: Katie and the amazing team from the Madison Public Library spent hours in the heat making sure younger guests had extra fun on the museum lawn. Contae Loch Band provided music for the entire event, and they sounded amazing. A happy audience, for sure!
An ice cream social wouldn’t be one without the ice cream. We can’t thank DeLon and the crew at Dairy Queen of Madison SD enough for their generous donation of ice cream. What a perfect treat on a humid 90 degree day!

Today is the DAY and its a fantastic day for ice cream music hot dogs and cool cars Join us at the Lake County Museum where the museum is decked out in patriotic colors for a funfilled evening of free DQ ice cream and kids activities. We look forward to welcoming you!

The National History Club car show fundraiser has changed: We didn't have quite enough cars registered to make a formal show, so instead, we're making it more casual. If you have a car you'd like to show, please park in the lot adjacent to the museum (it will be reserved for this purpose) and we'll have a dash plaque for you! There will be no votes/trophies this year.
The show will be during the museum's ice cream social (June 29th, 4:00-6:00pm).
The NHC students will be hosting a fundraiser and selling $5 hotdog meals during the car show/ ice cream social and would appreciate your support!
