What a great weekend!

On Saturday, we did a fun walking tour of DTLA (see previous post) and on Sunday, we had a terrific time with some truly lovely folks at our Secret Craft Crawl in Frogtown.

We painted shells at Forager Crafts, did some collage and watercolors at our gallery at The Blake Lofts and concluded with Origami wind chimes at nana’s gathering art studio - 3 locations, 3 crafts and a really cool way to spend the day!

Thank you to our curious crafters, who came with an open mind, good vibes and some great crafting skills. We’ll do another one in the Spring!

Thank you to everyone that came out yesterday for our Downtown LA Walking tour. What a great group of people! We had so much fun learning more about Los Angeles from Mike Sonksen

There’s so much to explore just in this corridor that includes The Central Library, Bunker Hill, Angel’s Flight, Yhe Bradbury Building and Grand Central Market. So much history, lore, architecture and public art to see!

Stay tuned for more collaborations with Mike Sonksen in the coming months as we create more stellar events like our Literary Lounge by the LA River..

The Pagan Origins of Halloween - Lecture & Workshop

Join Witch of the Dawn Maja D’Aoust as we peer behind the masks of Halloween and explore the ancient and esoteric origins of the traditions that still haunt—and enchant—our celebrations today.

Maja will journey into the mysteries of the harvest season, exploring the ancient agricultural and Pagan traditions that helped shape practices of communion, offerings and trick-or-treating. Drawing upon shamanic and ancestral perspectives, she will illuminate the powerful relationship between the harvest and the human cycles of birth, death, transformation and renewal.

Sacred to cultures throughout the world, autumn has long been understood as a threshold—a season when we gather what has grown, honor what has passed and remember those who came before us. Together, we’ll explore rituals and beliefs whose roots reach back to the beginnings of civilization.

Sisters of the Moon is a Frogtown Arts gathering created for women to connect, reflect and explore the cycles of nature, creativity and the sacred feminine in community.

Maja D’Aoust is a practicing witch and scholar of Alchemy and Occult lore whose interest in Alchemy and the Esoteric sciences spans her entire lifetime. After completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Maja studied Oriental Medicine and acupuncture and later earned her Master’s degree in Transformational Psychology with a focus on Shamanism, the I Ching and ancestors in her Thesis work. Únete a Frogtown Arts y Forager Crafts en nuestra 3.ª celebración anual del Día de los Mu***os, un animado encuentro comunitario en homenaje a las vidas, los recuerdos y los espíritus imperecederos de quienes ya no están entre nosotros.

Puntos destacados de la celebración:
1 y 2 de noviembre: Altar comunitario (ofrenda): Trae una fotografía o un pequeño recuerdo para honrar a un ser querido y contribuir a nuestro altar colectivo. El altar estará expuesto el 1 de noviembre de 10:00 a 21:00 y el 2 de noviembre de 10:00 a 14:00.

1 de noviembre: Puestos de comida y artesanía locales: de 14:00 a 21:00 h. Disfruta de deliciosa comida, productos hechos a mano y creaciones únicas de artesanos locales.

1 de noviembre: 18:00 h. Bendición y danza aztecas tradicionales: disfruta de los potentes ritmos, los movimientos y las tradiciones culturales que presenta la compañía de danza local Ritual Azteca, además de música en directo.

Join Frogtown Arts and Forager Crafts for our 3rd Annual Día de los Mu***os celebration, a vibrant community gathering honoring the lives, memories, and enduring spirits of those who have passed.

Celebration Highlights:

November 1-2 Community Altar (Ofrenda): Bring a photograph or small remembrance to honor a loved one and contribute to our collective altar. The altar will be on view Nov. 1st from 10:00 am-9:00 pm and on Nov 2nd from 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

November 1st: Local Food & Craft Vendors: 2:00-9:00 pm - Enjoy delicious food, handmade goods and unique creations by local artisans.

November 1st: 6:00 PM Traditional Aztec Blessing & Dance - Experience the powerful rhythms, movement and cultural traditions presented by local dance troupe Ritual Azteca, plus live music.

November 1st: Free Face Painting: 6:00-9:00 pm - Celebrate with colorful designs inspired by Día de los Mu***os by Styles by Jean.

We’re throwing back to a few weeks ago, to the Frogtown Artwalk!

There’s something magical about the Frogtown Artwalk. For one beautiful day, our neighborhood comes alive with art, music, culture, creativity and the unmistakable joy of community.

People of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life come together to celebrate what makes Frogtown so special. Neighbors reconnect, strangers become friends, families explore, and artists share their creativity.

From inspiring artwork and handmade crafts to vibrant cultural performances, music and dance, the Artwalk is more than an arts festival. It’s a celebration of our shared humanity, our cultural diversity and the connections that make a neighborhood feel like home.

As we celebrated 20 years of the Frogtown Artwalk, we were reminded that the true beauty of this event isn’t just the art on display. It’s the smiles, the laughter, the friendships and the sense of belonging we create together.

6:00 pm Doors open

Come early for the first hour and get a shadow card reading from Maja (separate fee paid directly to Maja). Bring your journal for some contemplative time or join the conversation with other guests or take a walk by the LA River.

7:00 pm Lecture and Workshop

Our last First Fridays of the year was last week and we had such a great time with all of you!

LA Design Week/end was also a lot of fun on Saturday! The Toad General Store pop up was amazing and we’re so glad we could host them at our gallery space.

Thank you to our artists, craft and food vendors, small business hosts and to all of you who came out to support from May to October. We love you and we thank you for another great year of First Fridays!
