Susan Kaulbars of Framing Solution in Edina, Minnesota (Susan Kaulbars) has always been one of our biggest cheerleaders. Here’s a TBT of a magnificent oval piece.

“This image is the only one that my customers husband has of his parents. It’s always been in this frame and the vintage old cardboard style matting was falling apart, and the glass was dirty and damaged. Blending a square image into an oval frame always leaves excess space which presents design challenges. The solution was a this beautiful 2 layered neural custom fabric wrapped mat with a custom fabric matching fabric wrapped fillet/cording which can be used in framing when curves are used. Clean, classy, and unassuming to highlight the image.”

Here are a couple of FE-J, 2” shallow scoop liners covered with our customers’ own fabric.

We also made a couple of oval liners just like the ‘J’ profile. They are 2” wide shallow scoops made as oval frames! They were Gallery wrapped with the customers’ own fabric and had a contrasting flexible fillet installed.

Throwing back to these beautiful needle works using our Gator and Chalk fabric from our friends at Houston’s Custom Framing and Fine Art (Houston's Custom Framing).

“Nothing like a hand wrapped fabric mat. We design with them frequently. I always suggest using fabrics when we design fabric oriented pieces such as these needle works. These are two great examples of fabrics from our friends Frank’s Fabrics. The green is called Gator and the white is called Chalk. These are so elegant and beautiful. The project in the works is with Oregano combined with Roma’s tabachino frame and a burl fillet. I particularly like using fillets with fabric wrapped mats. The current project is also getting museum plexi so that’s fantastic.”

Another shadows box classic from Salt City Custom Framing Custom Frames To Your Door:

This one has a wonderful story behind it: “This is a parasol and a hat that were worn by my client’s grandmother’s and then her mother’s doll when they were children. They were reframed from a very dated shadow box that had about a barrel and a half of glue in it. We were able to remount without applying any adhesive in new areas. We used the alcove box design to let more light in and keep the top of the box from casting a big shadow on the top of the very deep objects. The white frame plays beautifully with the pink fabric liner. Like that beautiful fabric? It’s from Frank's Fabrics. Are you confused because it looks like there isn’t any glass there?
