Cactus Gallery Cactus Gallery is a vibrant Latina owned & operated gallery. Est. 3/2005. Contemporary and folk art. We are looking forward to a pop-up group show or two in 2022.

Cactus Gallery is a vibrant Latina owned and operated gallery. Since March 2005, our space has been an eclectic mix of contemporary art and folk art. Starting March 1, 2019, Cactus Gallery began hosting its wonderful exhibits online and in our private space. We continue to work on holding space for a world that is able to honor many views, many cultures and many perspectives. Our commitment to interconnectedness must stay in the forefront so we can continue to care for one another on the other side. We are planning our next move with love & care and value your friendship through this pandemic and through these changes to our business model. For collector previews, information on interest free installment plans, cash and check sales, additional images, or any questions regarding purchases or to arrange a visit, contact Sandra Mastroianni at [email protected]. Fully vaccinated folks are now welcome to stop by our private space to see the shows in person. The gallery is open to installment plans to help you grow your collection.

💀 Mourning the beloved dead is a well practiced tradition and the Victorians were masters at it. The symbolism, the rituals, and the customs to cope with a terrible loss were a part of everyday life.

This piece is part of our upcoming HALLOWEEN FUNDAMENTALS show in which each artist was assigned a letter of the alphabet to interpret in spooky style. Link in bio.

🌙 Mavis Leahy is a self taught fiber/mixed media artist whose creations are a reflection of the many rich cultures of her native Los Angeles. Mavis creates mixed media, textile collage and assemblage from vintage materials and found objects. Mavis has been creating work for Cactus Gallery since 2009.

La Diosa Oculta representa aquello que permanece velado dentro de nosotras: la intuición, el misterio y el conocimiento profundo. Entre sus manos sostiene una esfera de cristal, símbolo de visión, revelación y de aquello que aún está por descubrirse. Su rostro oculto y la corona de hojas evocan la conexión con los ciclos de la naturaleza y con los secretos de lo femenino.

Baxter here to remind you that my people just opened a show 10 minutes ago. The paintings in the show are by gallery favorite Milka Lolo. I haven’t met her yet because she lives in México, and that is far, especially for a dog, plus I’m only 1 year old (well soon to be 2), but she has been making paintings, mixed media, collage and masks for Sandra for years -like two dogs before me long! Long live Rudeboy and Fitzo. ❤️

Milka, we hope you will return to LA soon!

About the piece (English in the comments): La Sabia es la guardiana de los misterios que solo se revelan cuando aprendemos a escuchar. The Whisperer representa esa voz interior que habita en lo profundo: un susurro ancestral que atraviesa el tiempo y nos recuerda aquello que hemos olvidado.

Su rostro oscuro simboliza la sabiduría de la sombra, el conocimiento que nace de haber vivido, perdido, transformado y renacido. Ella no habla en voz alta. Susurra. Y para escucharla es necesario detenerse, mirar hacia dentro y confiar en la intuición. Es la voz de la Gran Diosa en su aspecto de Sabia: la mujer que ya no busca respuestas afuera, porque lleva en sí la memoria de muchas vidas.

The Whisperer nos invita a escuchar aquello que solo puede ser comprendido en silencio.

Here is ‘THE CRONE MYSTERIES. THE LOOSE THREADS, a new painting by featured artist Milka Lolo. It is part of Milka’s 7th solo show for Cactus Gallery.

The pieces in Milka’s show, THE MYSTERIES OF THE GREAT GODDESS II, are the symbolic representation of the inherent creative power of all living beings. Hers is a quest involving the arduous inner work of self-contemplation. It involves an act of faith, of soul searching, reaching where consciousness fades, and resurfacing with the wisdom to reconcile the past and present, to accept the changing nature of life, and embrace human imperfection as part of the gift of existence.

Gabriela’s art graces the cover of DCA’s Latino Heritage Month Calendar and Cultural Guide this year.

Gabriela was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. Through her work, she shares with us the the beauty of Mexika culture, with an emphasis on unity, respect and love for all our brothers and sisters - whether human or made of leaves, feathers, hair or scales.
