Cactus Gallery is a vibrant Latina owned and operated gallery. Since March 2005, our space has been an eclectic mix of contemporary art and folk art. Starting March 1, 2019, Cactus Gallery began hosting its wonderful exhibits online and in our private space. We continue to work on holding space for a world that is able to honor many views, many cultures and many perspectives. Our commitment to int

erconnectedness must stay in the forefront so we can continue to care for one another on the other side. We are planning our next move with love & care and value your friendship through this pandemic and through these changes to our business model. Olga Ponomarenko is an animal lover, a lover of unique dolls- like her Kenner doll that inspired this piece (swipe to see her) -and an amazing painter. She has been creating art for us for 9 years.

Here is one of Olga’s Loteria cards No. 40 EL ALACRÁN (The Scorpion). Oil on watercolor paper mounted on wood, 8 x 10” in a vintage hand painted frame to 11 x 13”. Thank you BC for seeing this gorgeous piece and adding it to your beautiful collection.

Hola amig@s. Hope everyone has gotten to do something special with their special people this summer. I got to see my daughter this past week and that filled me with joy and much needed energy. Gracias Naima Sometimes for bringing the love and laughs to the Casa Linda. ❤️

🪡 Textiles often record histories, preserve traditions and communicate culture and identity. It’s a visual language and all the weaving, sewing, stitching, knitting, felting, and braiding often serve as a way of healing.

🧵 We love including textile work in our shows! In our bio, you’ll find the link for our current Lotería XII show that includes textile pieces and works that hint at the drape of textile.
