We are the oldest historical preservation institution in Gregg County, Texas. Our offerings are as diverse as the individuals and corporations who make up our membership. Our name implies who we are, but it does not convey our commitment to innovative exhibits and programs on numerous subjects for audiences of all ages. Whether you're a history buff or a social butterfly there is always something interesting to get involved with at the Museum.

Teachers and homeschool educators, bring history to your students with a GCHM Traveling Trunk!

Watch the video for a look at our hands-on lessons, from the Caddo and Texas Revolution to trains, music, and Gregg County history. Each trunk includes a teacher guide, activities, artifacts, and lessons aligned with Texas TEKS.

Trunks are free for public, private, and homeschool groups. Check one out for 10 school days; pickup is at the museum.
