GONE!
A showing of blotter acid art
This framed silkscreen print is the rare "Gone: A Showing of Blotter Acid Art" exhibition poster from 1998, featuring vibrant tiki artwork designed by renowned underground poster artist Alan Forbes for the Rico Gallery in Santa Monica, California.
Pieces like this are a big part of why I love collecting and preserving these cultural artifacts. It's more than just cool imagery on paper. These posters, prints, handbills, blotters and pieces of ephemera tell the story of a culture, where it was, what people were listening to, what they were experimenting with, and how the art continued to evolve alongside it.
And that brings me to something I've been working on for a while...
We're only about a month and a half away from something pretty darn cool.
PAPEREVOLUTION
A new exhibition coming to Thousand Cranes Gallery exploring psychedelic art, counterculture history, and the pieces of paper that helped document, and sometimes define, a movement.
Historic art and artifacts. Vintage posters and ephemera. Blotter art. New work. Live music. And quite a few surprises I'm going to keep to myself for now.
I'll be sharing a lot more as we get closer.
