ART, MUSIC & CULTURE

Today we honor the Indigenous People's whose ancestral lands we occupy and whose rich histories and stewardship we must learn from to create healthier futures.

We send a special acknowledgement to the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash tribes, the First People of what is now called LA County. We also acknowledge the Tongva and Acjachemen, considered the First People of what is known today as Orange County.

October 12th recognizes Indigenous People's Day, a day to honor the history, cultures, resiliences, and enduring contributions of Indigenous communities.

Here in Long Beach and across coastal Southern California, the Tongva people have thrived for over 10,000 years, shaping our region’s history. May we continue to listen, learn, and support efforts that respect Indigenous voices, traditions, and sovereignty.
