Bill Whiskey Tjapaltjarri | Frieze LA 2020 Online Viewing Room

Gagosian recently posted an up close and personal video of Bill Whiskey Tjalpaltjarri's painting, which is very similar to the massive work that we were scheduled to show this week. Even though we can't view these works in person, we can admire a detailed view of these abstracted landscapes that the Aboriginal Australian artist was known for. Tjalpaltjarri was a member of the indigenous Pitjantjatjara peoples, and although he didn't start painting on canvas until he was 85 years old, his works became popular internationally.

We may be closed to the public, but engagement continues! For more unique content, follow @thekleefeld on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thekleefeld/

#thekleefeld may be closed, but we hope you like this #virtualvisit, where you can see the work of Bill Whiskey Tjapaltjarri installed in the #museum space. The acclaimed Aboriginal Australian artist, is a member of the indigenous Pitjantjatjara people, who call The Olgas in the Northern Territory of Australia home. Envisioning the area may help in your reading of this abstracted landscape. The region, also known as Kata Tjuta, features soaring rock domes, outcroppings, and waterways nestled in a red-orange desert landscape where the glow of sunrise and sunset changes the colors of ochre-colored shapes in the rocks and the sand.

3-1/2 years ago when I started this incredible creative adventure of showing my art work through galleries, events, libraries and basically anyone who would be willing to show my artwork; I started to visit galleries in art communities like Laguna Beach, Santa Monica, Downtown LA, etc. I would literally go door-to-door with a printed portfolio in hand, a smile on my face and a firm handshake. In many cases, curators and gallery owners won’t even look at me in the eyes, let alone my portfolio. Continually getting rejected, this creative journey is quite a humbling experience…and it continues to be so. It’s my absolute pleasure to share with you, next Thursday, Nov. 1st I will be participating at the Laguna Beach Art Walk. I have the privilege of showcasing my REAL HEROES art pieces with the LagunaArt.com gallery, right across the street from the Laguna Art Museum. Along with showcasing a few of my larger pieces, I will have my REAL HEROES BOOK OF QUOTES for sale. Join me for drinks, snacks & amazing art. I look forward to seeing you there and getting to know the art museum at CSLB Thank you for taking the time. Invitation: https://www.facebook.com/events/186626152249995/
