2026 Art by Nature: From Concrete to Creek

The 2026 theme: From Concrete to Creek

Where does the water go when it rains? We are exploring the ways stormwater moves through Lexington. This year's theme focuses on stormwater best management practices (BMP). Stormwater BMPs are devices or methods of controlling stormwater in an urban area. They slow the water down, filter pollutants and sink it back into the ground.

Most of our featured locations are past LFUCG stormwater quality incentive grant projects.

Art by Nature schedule

Opening reception | Oct. 16 | 6 – 8 p.m.

LexArts Hop | Nov. 20 | 6 – 8 p.m.

Closing reception | Dec. 12 | 11 a.m. – noon

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our LASC team are wearing purple today to show support for all survivors of domestic and sexual violence đź’ś

There are so many ways you can take action to support the Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition of Lexington’s mission to create a culture of safety through advocacy, education, collaboration, and service coordination for communities impacted by interpersonal violence — be sure to find out more about programs like Green Dot training, It’s Time Lexington, and ways you can directly donate during a time when federal funding for survivor services are being cut.

We’re on the look-out for a passionate Animal Caretaker to join the LASC team and support our various animal ambassadors (including axolotls, turtles, fish, snakes, and more)! Candidates should have a love for animal welfare and education, enjoy hands-on work, and take pride in keeping all our eco-educators clean, safe, and comfortable. If this sounds like you or someone you know, reach out to Callie ([email protected]) with a cover letter and resume to get started!

Before the tricks & treats of the evening, stop by LASC to haunt our hallways! We want to see the creative costumes you’ve worked hard on, so we’ll be running a special holiday admission from 10 AM - 2 PM (Adults: $2 | Kids - FREE) this Halloween 👻

Catch a planetarium show, craft something cute (or creepy!) in any of our interactive art spaces, and say hello to our animal ambassadors before you head out to collect all the goodies 🍬

What if the opportunity to discover what you’re good at depended on whether your family could afford it?

At LASC, we don’t think it should.

Operating support helps us provide scholarships and accessible opportunities so more children and families can experience art, science, creativity, and discovery.
Because possibility belongs to everyone.

This October, help us make sure more people have a place to find it.

Every Third Saturday of the month is Discovery Saturday! This day of free programming invites the community to come explore, discover, and learn something new — join us October 17th from 10 AM - 2 PM for our Dia de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) celebration, in combination with a honoring artists & scientists throughout history! We’ll be making ofrendas to honor those that have passed, leading a self-portrait art project inspired by Frida Kahlo, and diving into a science experiment inspired by Galileo & Isaac Newton together! We invite you to come dressed as your favorite artist or scientist who teaches you to dream big and reach for the stars. Learn all about the traditions of Dia de los Mu***os and the importance of remembrance during this special month.

Thank you to Bank of America for their generous support of art & science programming, and for helping make Discovery Saturdays possible!

Possibility needs a place to live. At The Living Arts & Science Center, it lives in classrooms, studios, galleries, gardens, exhibits, the planetarium, and in the people and animals who call this campus home. This month, we are shining a light on the different facets of our organization that can only exist with the help of many hands and many hearts.

Will you help sustain the place where possibility lives? Donate today from the link in our bio and be a part of the magic, the momentum, and the many lives that are affected by the work we do here at Lexington’s only art & science center!
