🪵 OPENING THIS SATURDAY!

Robert Bruce Weston’s large-scale wood art will be exhibited at the Peninsula Gallery. Robert’s marquetry work includes finely crafted scenes of local icons — such as the Breakwater Lighthouse, the Lewes canal, and the barn on Cave Neck Road — majestic landscapes, detailed architecture, and abstract imagery. His pieces, in contrast to classical marquetry, lean towards non-representational, with some surrealism thrown in.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, which is free and open to everyone. Weston will be in attendance, giving patrons the opportunity to mingle with the artist. Join Robert and the gallery staff for an evening of fine art and complimentary food and drink.

🖼 When you come to us for framing, you’re getting a full creative consultation! Our framers, Molly and Carol, work with you to create a framing design that fits perfectly into your home!

This piece done by Molly is the epitome of simple but effective design. This is only a single mat and a thin frame, but the details make all the difference.

Together with the client, they chose to forgo a stark white mat for a soft off-white that will allow the highlights in the artwork to shine the brightest. The black bevel core defines the border of the painting and adds contrast. This paper mat also has a faux linen finish that adds texture and richness to the breathing room. The frosted silver finish of this frame has black undertones and a rustic texture, mimicking the depth in the watercolor. This molding is part of a line that our very own framer and gallery co-owner Carol helped design for our nationwide distributor.

Our framers are the best in the region! Visit our website to learn more about our framing services: https://www.peninsula-gallery.com/framing

Steve’s paintings are a testament to his profound connection to the maritime world. Focusing on derelict boats, working harbors, and marshlands, his works preserve a disappearing way of life, immortalizing places often lost to time and development. His scenes become windows into a vanishing world, drawing upon his meticulous field studies and archival research.

🌟 We love Sherri Neale’s Beachstars!

After retiring as an educator in Virginia, Sherri was introduced to the joy of discovering pieces of glass tumbled smooth by the ocean in Rehoboth Beach. She began hunting the Delaware shores for more glass, eventually creating these beautiful suncatching, glass stars!
