I’m not going to lie, since moving to Louisiana, I’ve had some real struggles with trying to find my place in the art world of Cajun country. There are a multitude of incredibly talented artist here who have been doing their craft for decades. In many ways their art supersedes my art. I’ve tried a few different venues with no luck at selling my work which has been more than discouraging. I’ve changed my prices, I’ve tried changing my work, I’ve tried all sorts of different things. On top of the struggle to “fit in” but stand out, I’ve had health issue after health issue (none too serious that I am aware of). I’m recovered from having many kidney stones all of the sudden and some tough procedures. And now I am in the process of having more tests run. Not feeling well enough to work in the studio but I still have the desire which is good. In this time I’ve been doing some work behind the scenes to get my work printed and available for people who don’t have an original painting in their budget. These are some prototypes of what I have been working on. It takes a while to get all the things in order to get quality prints of original work and it takes money. I’ve been doing a deeper dive into the art of iconography and the history behind the religious works. So here are the beginnings of pieces I would like to offer in the near future. These paintings are printed directly on clear acrylic blocks are a beautiful way to display art but also, I haven’t seen any other icons displayed in this way. These icons are windows to the Christian spirit and have significant meaning in each color, face, hand gesture and symbol. These will be blessed by a priest in my area and will come with an explanation of the icon of your choice. These icons are not to be idolized. They are to be treated as holy and spiritual reminders of the works of that Jesus, Mary and all of the saints did for us. My intention is to add new icons from my personal hand painted pieces which I created with the instruction of a master Iconographer in Greece. These are all in the most traditional Byzantine form using handmade egg tempera. If you are interested in purchasing any of these please message me. The other works are some of my most popular pieces that are a representation of my heritage and ancestors picking cotton in the Mississippi Delta and a fond memory of my oldest sister taking me to a sunflower field when I was a child. The orders for these pieces will go out soon so that I can have them available for Christmas. Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing. In the time going forward I will be working on getting my health back up to speed and working on a new icon to add to these seen in the short reel. Much love and time is always put into my work. I hope you like these. Your prayers and thoughts for me finding my place in the art world here and for physical healing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all of you who have prayed for me and sent good thoughts my way.
Thankfully, after seeing the urologist to follow up on my kidney infection and the possible third procedure, I was told that I do not need the third procedure!!!! After the stent removal and a couple of days of rest, I honestly feel like a new person. The doctors do not know how long that 12mm stone was in there but I passed a 3mm stone in November and believe it was there well before that. I also believe that even before the stone partially blocked a ureter I was feeling the affects. I was exhausted all the time. Never had any energy and then when my kidney became enlarged, I was down for the count.
So moral of the story, keep a watch on your kidneys!
Anyway, I’ve got lots of work to do in my studio to get it in order for my creative energy to start slinging some paint!
Again, thank you for your kind words and encouragement. You all made me feel very lucky to have so many that care about me. 💜

Hello friends! It’s been quite some time since I have posted any new art and here’s why. I’ve had several kidney stone procedures in the last month which should have been quick and easy but there have been some complications. Nothing serious but it was very difficult to get in to see a urologist and I was in a lot of pain so there wasn’t much I could get done in my studio. Then one procedure turned into two possibly three.
So, please keep me in your prayers as I am still going through this issue. I hope to be back to my studio very soon. I miss creating. It’s been such a vital part of my life for many years now. As soon as I can get back in my happy place, I will let you guys know! Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!
