I usually go overboard on snowshots this time of year. It's my way of praying for tons of snow to help the spring thaw and recharge our rivers and wells. You've seen this one before. They are coming down Taos Street from Hot Springs Blvd in the early 1950s. There was always a sled shortage and we relied on the buddy system to keep the fun going. I think Miguel Angel and friends are in this photo.

One of Mitzie's favorite subjects, snow. This is looking north up the Gallinas River at Bridge Street. A close up of this area earned Mitzie a Photo Award for a shot he named "Quiet".
We can all relate to Las Vegas being extra quiet after a big snowfall. A side plus was that any rubbish was covered up. I can remember walking around town after a deep snow event around the winter of 1973. The crunching snow was the only sound. We lived in that little house right next to the old Elks Lodge and had Safeway, S**c and Span and several bars within a block.

This small collection of a school is in the Pecos area. No one has been able to place its location or the year. One clue...

This small collection of a school is in the Pecos area. No one has been able to place its location or the year. One clue is that Nappy worked at the mines at Pecos, NM, USA in the late 1930s or early 1940s. Nappy always told us about working for days before getting to come home. One time he says that they survived on crackers and Rex jelly for several days before getting some days off to get back to good old home cooking.
The large building seems large enough to give us come clue as to its location. The children and the old bus are our only clue that this was a boarding school. Maybe someone can tell us the year of that school bus.

From the 1956 aerial view in the Mitzie Studio Collection. That's Grand Avenue as it looks from the air facing south. You will want to zoom on this one. A local aviator, Lloyd Bible took Mitzie up for this collection. They had a delightful day, making Mitzie's dream come true.
