Welcome to Throwback Thursday!

This week's postcard from the Heritage Village Archives & Library shows the original, damaged Skyway Bridge beside the current bridge built to replace it. The old bridge partially collapsed when hit by a freighter in 1980, the new bridge opened to the public in 1987, and the original span was demolished by 1993.

Welcome to Throwback Thursday!!

This week's postcard from the Heritage Village Archives & Library collection showcases Straub Park in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Do you notice the ship docked at Spa Beach? That's the Bounty--a reproduction ship built for the 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty. After filming completed, the Bounty became a tourist attraction that split time between New England and St. Petersburg until 2012, when it sunk during Hurricane Sandy.
