๐ŸŒฑ Learn About Composting Day

May 29 invites us to explore one of the simplest ways to care for our land. Composting has long been a practical New England habit, turning kitchen scraps, leaves, and garden clippings into what early gardeners proudly called black gold. This natural fertilizer enriches soil, supports healthy seedlings, and helps reduce waste in a way that honors both tradition and the environment.

๐ŸŒฟ A Small Step With Big Impact
Compost can be made from everyday items like vegetable peels, coffee grounds, newspapers, and yard trimmings. Adding it to your garden improves soil stability and encourages the wildlife helpers we all love to see in the North Country, from hummingbirds to honeybees.

Wishing everyone a bright and green Learn About Composting Day as we continue caring for the land that holds our history.

Today we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Lancaster families have carried these stories for generations, from early settlers who answered the call to the many North Country residents who served in later conflicts. Their names appear in our records, on our monuments, and in the memories passed down through local households.

๐ŸŒฟ Honoring Their Legacy
We invite our community to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and devotion shown by those who never returned home. May their service continue to guide us as we preserve the history they helped shape.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Memorial Day filled with gratitude for those who served and the families who carry their stories forward.
