ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Marina Nimmo
From her studio in South West France, British artist Marina Nimmo creates intricately hand-built ceramic sculptures inspired by the natural environment that surrounds her - from shifting seasons to the movement of rivers and tides.
Beginning with spontaneous drawings, Marina translates line and movement into clay, building each sculpture entirely by hand. As the clay reaches its leather-dry stage, she meticulously pares back and refines the surface, gradually transforming substantial forms into delicate, organic structures that appear almost impossibly light.
We are delighted to welcome Marinaβs practice to the GW Contemporary program and to present her work in our current exhibition, Where We Meet, on view through November 1.
