Today we pay respects to a hero in children’s literacy.

Dolly Parton founded her Imagination Library in 1995. Since then, over 330 million books have been gifted to children aged 0 - 5 across five countries.

Dolly’s vast philanthropy inspires us not only to live boldly, but step with kindness. She will be remembered as an icon in our non-profit sector.

We love you, Dolly! Thank you for the love and light you continue to spread in this world. You are dearly, sincerely missed.

Last night CMA history was made at Magic in the Making: an adults-only fundraiser benefiting the Children’s Museum of Acadiana.🫧🪄🪩🕺

We are so proud to have welcomed all of you to an evening that not only celebrated a mission & legacy 30 years in the making, but put into motion another 30 years of continued vitality.

We had optimism and a dream. But our incredible community exceeded all expectations. Though, when a magician, a disco ball, and 30 years worth of love & support gather at a children’s museum, what is there to do but have too much fun?

This evening was made possible through the crucial efforts of many, including: Diverse Studio, Rudick Construction Group, Peter Cooke and the Park Bistro team, Three Thirty Seven band, First Horizon, Clay & Lynette Darnall, JAE Events, Party Central, BubbLee bubble artist, Devon Faul (magician), Veronica at Snappea Creative Media, Bronson’s Bartending, and Maison Fou Entertainment.

To everyone who supported, donated, volunteered, sponsored, or helped bring our first Magic in the Making to life - we appreciate you immensely.

Okay, we’ve kept a few surprises long enough.

Magic in the Making isn’t your typical fundraiser. This Thursday, we’re bringing the CMA to life after hours in a completely new way.

Come experience live bubble artistry Bubble Lee, up-close magic throughout the museum Devon Faul, six chef-curated tastings from ParkBistroLafayette, signature cocktails, wine and local beer, live music from Three Thirty Seven, a small curated silent auction, and a few more surprises along the way.

And for the first time, guests will get a look at what we’ve been envisioning for the future of the CMA.

We couldn’t make a night like this happen without the people who believed in it from the beginning.

The CMA is proud to have served over 320 people with StoryTimes from 11 local, Louisiana authors this summer!📚☀️

Due to the generosity of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, we also had the opportunity to give a total of 165 books out to families attending StoryTime. (Yippee🎉🥳)

Thank you Dollar General for supporting accessible literacy programming; and especially thank you to every family who attended.
