Another Little Farmer Friday success! We read Old McDonald’s Spooky Farm, painted pumpkins, took pictures, enjoyed a hay ride and fed chickens kettle corn!

History doesn’t have to be boring and watching these kids explore afterwards and experience the farm and museum at their level was wonderful.

Next one will be be November 13 with the signup going live on the 3rd at 10 am.

🌾 Little Farmer Friday is back!

Join us Friday, October 9, from 10–11 am for the start of another year of stories, crafts, and farm activities for toddlers and their parents. Come meet other families, then stay and explore the museum grounds with your Little Farmer afterward!

Two houses. One story.

For years, thousands have walked through our Haunted House.

But this year… there’s a story to follow.

It begins quietly.

A darkened house.
A flickering candle.
A feeling that someone—or something—is there with you.

Then you hear her.

“Daddy?”

Who is she?

What happened here?

And why does she want you to follow?

The deeper you go, the more the story begins to reveal itself.

But some stories are better left unfinished.

A New Twist on Our Field Trips! 📜

This year, we’re trying something a little different to help bring the people of early Klein to life.

Each field trip group will receive an Early Settler Card, given to one of the group’s chaperones. Throughout the tour, that adult becomes the “voice” of an actual early Klein resident—sharing their story with the students as the group explores the museum.

The cards are written in first person, so instead of simply reading facts about someone who lived here, students hear things like “I came to Texas…”, “I raised my family here…” and “This was my home.”

In previous years, we gave cards to every student. While the kids enjoyed them, we found that having everyone holding and reading a card could sometimes compete with the hands-on activities and the stories being shared by our docents.

So this year, we’re putting the chaperones to work! 😄

One card. One adult storyteller. One real person from Klein’s past traveling with the group throughout their visit.

Our hope is that these Early Settler Cards will help connect the names, faces, homes and artifacts around the museum—and remind students that the history they’re learning isn’t just about dates and buildings.

It’s about people. And these were the people who helped build the community we call home. ❤️
