GENOA 1800s HISTORY CELEBRATION FOR FAMILIES

This coming Saturday, September 5, at 11:00am, join us for a family-friendly event with local history, storytelling, and music at the Genoa Historical Association's Threshing Barn in conjunction with the “Genoa in 3D” exhibit at the Northville Arts Center!

We will gather in the GHA Threshing Barn for an interactive reading of “Early Harvest” from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Farmer Boy, performed by the illustrious Mr. Ricky Gessler. The reading will be followed by a selection of nineteenth-century children’s harvest songs.

Families can also visit the Northville Arts Center from 10:00 a.m. to noon to explore “Genoa in 3D,” featuring stereoscopic photographs of life in Genoa during the 1800s. History-themed coloring pages will be available for children while families enjoy the café’s offerings.

At 1:00 p.m., exhibit curator Vince Slaugh will give a brief talk about “Genoa in 3D,” followed by a Q&A at the Northville Arts Center.

Town of Genoa Community:
The Genoa Historical Association is looking for a barn to store the 100 year old threshing machine and binder for the winter months. Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed. Thank you!

The 31st annual Wheat Harvest Festival was amazing! Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors. Because of the sponsors and those who donate every year the Wheat Harvest Festival is always so successful and so much fun for our community! And wonderful volunteers! From the planning stages right through to the cleanup… The volunteers were so helpful and worked so very hard! Thank you to those who participated in the parade, and to the crafters and the vendors! Thank you to the fire departments both Genoa and King Ferry! The food was delicious and nobody went home hungry either Friday or Saturday! Thank you to the entertainment! The music and the dancers! The crowd loved every minute! Again, thank you to everyone who was a part of this very special weekend!

The WHEAT HARVEST FESTIVAL is less than a week! Let’s Go!!

Floats to be decorated for 250th Birthday, antique cars and tractors to be shined up, cakes and more cakes to be baked! Crafters and vendors will be packing up their goods! The Fire Departments are prepping all the delicious foods! The Draft Horse Club and other horse owners brushing and shining those beautiful horses! And the musical entertainment tuning up the instruments and toes!!
