🚜 The tractors are a big part of Plowing Day!

One of the best parts of the day is seeing tractors of different ages, sizes and makes gathered together and then watching them take part in the Parade of Animals & Tractors at 12:15.

Among this year’s exhibitors will be Robin McFall with a 1952 John Deere 320, along with Bill McLaughlin and a collection of vintage garden tractors, including Massey Ferguson and John Deere models.

Whether you know every model at a glance or simply enjoy seeing these old machines still running, there will be plenty to look at.

🎥 **Plowing Day, April 30, 2005 where it all began**

As we prepare for our 10th Plowing Day and Country Fair, we’re taking a look back at the very first one, held more than 20 years ago on April 30, 2005.

That day included tours of the historic 1908 J.T. Wells barn, along with a plowing demonstration that showed just how much farming technology had changed over time.

Visitors watched a yoke of oxen, teams of horses, a single horse, antique tractors on steel and rubber, a 1920 Case steam tractor, and increasingly modern tractors and plows work the field.

And yes it rained! As one speaker in the video put it, it was “a pretty good day for actually plowing…not a great day for spectators.”

This video is a wonderful record of that first event and many of the people, machines and stories that helped start a tradition.

🚜 **Three weeks until Plowing Day!**

On Saturday, September 19, the grounds at Brook Farm will once again be filled with tractors, animals, demonstrations, vendors, food and plenty to see and do.

This year marks the 10th Plowing Day and Country Fair presented by the Interlaken Historical Society.

A few things to look forward to:

• Parade of Animals & Tractors at 12:15
• Plowing demonstrations and wagon rides to the field at 1:00
• Exhibitors and vendors throughout the day
• Kid’s Train and Pedal Tractor Pull
• Food, face painting and animals
• Special presentations in the barn beginning at 11:00

🎟 Free admission, donations appreciated

This year marks our 10th Plowing Day and Country Fair!

It all began in April 2005. Since then, the Interlaken Historical Society has welcomed the community back for Plowing Days in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2022 and 2024.

Over the years, we’ve had rain, mud and some wonderfully sunny days, but every Plowing Day has brought together tractors, animals, neighbors, friends and plenty of memories.

As we get ready for our 10th Plowing Day and Country Fair on September 19, we’d love to hear from you:

Save the date for one of our favorite fall traditions!

The Interlaken Historical Society’s Plowing Day and Country Fair returns on Saturday, September 19, from 10 AM–2 PM.

Spend part of the day with us enjoying tractors, animals, field plowing, quilts, displays, books, face painting, food and more. This year’s event will also help celebrate America’s 250th.
