This year we have been met with quite a few challenges, but nothing has rocked us more than the loss of our long time board member and friend, Marty Anderson. Not a day goes by that we don't miss his presence.

The world lost his kind soul just 2 weeks before the car show in May. He had been looking forward to the car show all year so he could exhibit his Chevrolet C10 which he was so proud of. This sad part of our year does have a happy ending though...

His wife Cindy and other family were able to get the truck fixed and running well and were able to get the truck to the show. Our friend Marty was definitely present in spirit.

And with even more of a feel good addition, we are now so appreciative and fortunate to welcome Cindy Anderson to the board of directors.

Thank you Cindy ❤️

Kellogg Car Show Stories of 2026 :
Bill Schendel's 1955 Chevy Cameo V8

The story about this truck was so cool! Bill Schendel of Schendel Pest Control of Marshalltown started the mechanical restoration and tune up needed for this beautiful 3100 just in time to celebrate their 70th Anniversary. This truck was purchased by his family in 1955 to start their business and served the city of Marshalltown and surrounding areas before being retired.

This truck would have came with the famous Blue Flame inline 6 that could be found in the first years of the C1 Corvette, but this one features the optional 265 cubic inch V8 making 155 horsepower. Only 5,220 '55 Cameos were produced and it's estimated only 20% of those were equipped with the V8. This is the grandfather to every single Silverado on the road to this day!

It was one of my favorite vehicles on the field, and since it did not win an award I wanted to at least draw some attention to its history.

History is cool. Follow us for more. 🙂

Kellogg Car Show 2026 : Through the Eyes of a 7 Year Old

One of our volunteer judges who is most easily described as a huge car enthusiast, has a 7 year old daughter who loves cars too! She got her very own little camera this year, and she took a few photos of what stood out to her!

We love to see the next generation appreciating the classic cars of yesteryear and this is such a cool and unique perspective that we often don't get to see!

Here's her photos, tag the owners if you know them :)

Well it's official! We made Kellogg history on Saturday! We had 143 cars in attendance and the best weather we could ever ask for!

The best part about history is the stories and narratives that transpire, and oh my were there a lot of them! Over the next coming days we will be dedicating a post to each and every one of them! The first will be posted later this morning, so come back and check our page at 11am for a glimpse into what our car show looked like for a 7 year old girl car enthusiast!

We are so excited to be a catalyst of the excitement building around Historic Highway 6! Don't miss our Historic Iowa Hwy 6 Seminar Presented by The 29th State and The Blacktop Nomad !

I want to apologize to all of our followers for being absent for such a long time. Those of us behind the scenes of the group page as well as the actual members of the BOD have been adjusting to all the complexities life has been throwing our way as of late. We have lost some of our board members and are actively looking for some new faces to help fill those voids, so if you know of any people that may find this venture interesting, send them our way please. We can always use more volunteers too, don't be shy!

We intend to have a presence at the upcoming talk hosted by the Kellogg Historical Society where the historical importance of Highway 6 will be discussed the evening of May 22nd as well as being at the car show the following day in Kellogg. Link for the presentation will be below.

In the meantime, preparations and stops are being discussed for this years cruise, mark the calendar and don't miss it!
