Come see our REFRESH at our Special Projects pop-up space in Hamilton Park!!

It’s so delightful to take in Leigh Cunningham’s paintings and Lori Perbeck’s photography in such a beautiful location. For JCAST 2026, we’ve curated what we think is a refreshing, “thirst-quenching” array of works. Our goal is to uplift spirits and provide some joyful moments in this season of dramatic change.

Both artists will be present throughout the weekend to meet you. The space will be open for JCAST on Saturday, October 3rd & Sunday, October 4th, from 2-6 both days.

DS Special Projects is located at 222 Ninth Street (corner Erie Street) beside Betty’s Ceramics Club in the art-filled Swift & Co. building.

This weekend is a wonderful opportunity to shop for art all over the city — show our local artists how much we value their dedication and purchase their work! It’s such a life-affirming and meaningful experience to collect art from your talented neighbors ❤️.

We’re so grateful to SILVERMAN for perpetually providing space for ART in Jersey City — it’s a privilege to adorn walls with art created by extraordinary talent right here in our home town. Both Lori Perbeck and Leigh Cunningham have art studios down the block elevatorjerseycity, where 3 floors of creatives work their craft. Elevator is open for JCAST as well — be sure to visit them at 135 Erie Street (corner 8th St).

THIS WEEKEND!!!

The first weekend in October is always a very special one in Jersey City. For the 37th year in a row, the city shines a spotlight on all things ART, with artists opening up their studios and establishments hosting art exhibitions in every part of the city. Every edition has its own flavor and this year will be no exception!

For the 2026 edition of the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour (aka JCAST), we have 3 spaces activated with arts programming (stay tuned for more info!).

At Deep Space Gallery HQ (77 Cornelison Avenue), we have collaborated with co-curator and artist Leandro Comrie to bring together works by 20 artists who tap into realms that blur the lines between fantasy and reality.

Magical realism guided our curatorial point of view for “MUÉSTRAME el fulgor de lo intangible” (Show Me the Glow of the Intangible). The artists in this show have familial roots from throughout Latin America — Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela — and their works span diverse mediums including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawings, collage, photography, video and fiber art. Each work has a way of showing us the special glow of the intangible.

Please join us along with the artists in celebrating the Opening Weekend of this compelling and heart-infused exhibition. We will have opening receptions on Saturday, October 3rd from 7-11pm and on Sunday, October 4th, from 3-8pm.

We will have curated sounds by Andy Mac Andy Mac🇨🇴 on Saturday night and a vinyl Cumbia set by August Goulet August Goulet on Sunday. We’ll be blessed with delicious eats by FlyFoods FlyFoods 🇵🇷 all weekend!! Specialty beverages by artists’ families will also be on offer ☺️.

About the Guest Curator:
A prolific artist and a child of Panama, Venezuela and the United States, Leandro Comrie brings a kaleidoscopic, multifaceted richness and depth to his perception of visual art and culture.

The Held Breath (2026)

Here comes the rain again, but we don’t mind! We will be gathering to celebrate the FINAL WEEKEND of our 10th birthday show ~ SUMMER IN THE CITY ~ featuring more than 85 Deep Space artists and over 150 works inspired by the theme of summertime in the city.

We will be here with libations and good company — come on by, RAIN OR SHINE!!! We miss youuuuuu!!!
