Join us for Tintype Portraits by Cole Caswell at Mana Contemporary during Spring Open Studios.

Working across traditional, historic, and digital photographic processes, Caswell explores the ways geography, technology, and survival shape contemporary life. Living and working nomadically for much of the year, he travels throughout the country documenting the landscapes and conditions that define how we exist today.

During Open Studios, curious travelers and visitors alike will have the opportunity to purchase commissioned tintype portraits directly from the artist.

Announcing more interactive live programming at Mana Contemporary Spring Open Studios.

Pierce Logan is a published poet and former teacher who types poem on-demand on his manual typewriter. Pierce established QWERT Poetry in 2015 and has commissioned hundreds of poems for strangers via partnerships with brands like NYU, The Hotel Chelsea, Ferragamo, and others, no two poems being alike.
Community involvement is part of QWERT’s mission, which is impetus that birthed about the community scroll—a long continuous piece of paper inserted into a typewriter, inviting people to contribute to an endless poem both as a performance and as an installation.

Visit us during Spring Open Studios to explore a living collection of descriptions drawn directly from the artists’ studios.

Then join us at 5 PM in the lobby for the reading of the scroll—the unfolding finale of the day, where everything comes together in a single shared moment.

Mana Contemporary is proud to present a new large-scale installation by NYC-based, award-winning illustrator, interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator TLaloC (Eduardo Corral).

Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’ Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, the three inflatable sculptures draw from the concept of hrönirs—unstable manifestations born from memory, repetition, and forgetting. Existing somewhere between presence and illusion, the works explore ideas of the foreign, the alien, and the fragile nature of perception.

Accompanied by atmospheric sound and subtle scent, the installation transforms the space into an immersive sensory environment where presence becomes unstable, contingent, and constantly shifting.

Located in the Mana Boiler Room, the exhibition moves beyond traditional gallery conventions and invites viewers into a shared perceptual experience. Viewing starts at 12PM.

Dan Flavin: cornered fluorescent light transforms one of Mana’s galleries into a field of radiant color. First exhibited in 1972 at the Institute for the Arts at Rice University, this large-scale installation exemplifies Flavin’s iconic use of fluorescent light to shape space, perception, and atmosphere.

Born in Jamaica, NY (1933), Flavin challenged traditional movements like Abstract Expressionism and Pop by embracing industrial, off-the-shelf materials—fluorescent tubes—creating endlessly subtle combinations of light, color, and form. Simple in structure, powerful in experience.
