They can be donated in honor or in memory of a loved one. Each item includes a bookplate recognizing the donor(s) and person(s) of honor. National Friends of Libraries Week is October 16-22!
Today's the last day! Please bring your non-perishables by 1 pm today, when we close. You can enter to win one of two parking passes to the NC Arboretum in Asheville, NC, worth $16.
We've received a few donations (THANK YOU!) but no entries in the contest yet. That means if you donate and enter, you've got a reeeeeally good chance of winning one of the two parking passes to the NC Arboretum. You've got until 1 pm Saturday to donate and enter. Hope to see you soon!
Not surprisingly, we didn't have many visitors over the weekend. (We hope everyone is safe and dry!) Now that Ian has passed us by, we are ready for your donations. Even if you don't want to enter our drawing for a parking pass to the NC Arboretum, you can still help! Donate non-perishable items in our collection box in the lobby. As a reminder, glass jars are not accepted.
Green bags are here! We have a number of donation bags from A Simple Gesture for our food drive next week. If you'd like to donate several items and need a way to transport them, need a physical reminder, or you'd like a helpful list of items to look for (there's a list clipped to the bag!), come by and grab a bag and return it with your donation October 1-8. Did you know that the Farmersβ Almanac predicts fall foliage will peak across the inland regions of North Carolina between October 12 and 28? It's a perfect time to plan a scenic drive to our mountains and the NC Arboretum.
We will draw two winners to each receive a parking pass to the NC Arboretum, in Asheville, NC. (Entry to the Arboretum itself is free.) To enter, simply donate a non-perishable item or items during the week-long drive for A Simple Gesture and complete an entry form. One entry per donor. Please, no glass items. Winners will be contacted Monday, October 10.
Our Friends of the Library are excited to see you there!
Come see us at Chick-Fil-A Grandover Village this Friday at 9 am for story time!!
Tomorrow at 10 am, Captain Jim is joining us upstairs in the auditorium. You should join us, too! If weather permits, we will have activities by the fountain after.
I hate to admit it, but summer is coming to an end. We still have one more exciting week of summer programs, though! You have through this Saturday to check items out for a chance at prizes in our goldfish guessing game. Next Wednesday at 2 is our viewing of the movie Aquaman. Last but not least, next Thursday at 10 am is our summer reading grand finale, Pirate Party with Captain Jim!
Don't forget to sign up for our teen & adult Wed 2:00 program, A Day at the Beach. We'll be doing beachy crafts including a resin bookmark and popsicle stick plaque. You can register by calling or stopping by the library.
As part of our summer reading, "An Ocean of Possibilities" we have a contest for our patrons starting today, running Mondays through Saturdays for the next four weeks! Guess how many goldfish in the bowl. You can receive one entry for each visit that you check any items out on an account (one per day per account). The two closest guesses win each week.
Prizes include entry to several local and regional attractions, thanks to generous donations from Greensboro Science Center, North Carolina Zoo, Marbles Kids Museum, NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, and The North Carolina Arboretum.
We're back! Today's Adult/Teen program is cancelled, but we are open normal hours today, 10-6.
The library will be temporarily closed due to covid. Please check facebook and our website for updates. We appreciate your patience and support!! π
