Jamestown Methodist Church Then and Now.

After carefully studying the block wall in front of the current Methodist Church, several of us believe this shows where the former building on the old postcard stood.

Making these is so much fun, and you learn a lot doing so!

What then and now would you like to see?

Hard to believe this was 13 years ago we shared this for the first time.

I've been hoping to get this picture for a while, Jimmy Sweet came through for us. Let's see who knows this feller:

On this corner
here he stood.
Daily watch,
oe'r the neighborhood.

Cars'd pass by,
and he'd wave.
When the state crew came thru,
he'd watch em' pave.

Without a doubt,
when you went to town,
on this here corner,
he'd be found.

Monday thru Friday,
Saturday and Sunday,
On this corner,
stood Dee Monday.

Show of hands, how many folks remember seeing him here?

I have no idea of the date nor do I have the back. Safe to say it predates the current building.

What an absolute treasure this is! This song echoes so many lessons and memories from my childhood β€” lazy afternoons on the porch at York Mill Park and Forbus General, conversations across the hardware counter at Potter’s, and long visits on the front porches of people who shaped my world. So many of those dear souls are gone now, but their wisdom lives on. I hope this song touches your heart the way it does mine!
