A good day on the road for WSM! In Rochester, NY, at the wonderful George Eastman Museum, one of our partners in the Finger Lakes Film Trail. I had the pleasure of seeing their gorgeous Edward Steichen exhibit (it closes soon, so do go if you are in the area) focused on Steichen’s love of delphinium and all things horticultural. His prized delphiniums — which he grew on his CT
farm — were on display at MoMA in 1936.
Later, I popped in to say hello to Jennifer Ahrens at Bero Architecture PC. A preservation architecture firm, Bero designing WSM’s Wharton Studio & Café project — the adaptive reuse of a former motion picture studio from the 19teens in Stewart Park in Ithaca — and Jennifer leads the design team which includes Ithaca-based engineers and landscape architects. Looking forward to my next trip to Rochester! DR

Truly disheartened to see the Picnic Pavilion sign in Stewart Park defaced in this way. WSM was leading a history tour in the park Saturday morning with Historic Ithaca when we noticed it. This sign is a WSM-led project. Much work and expense go into designing, researching, producing and installing these lovely interpretive signs on the four historic building in the park. It’s sad and frustrating that anyone would do something so needlessly destructive.
