🎈Join us this Friday Night at the Summer Nights & Flights event on the Square!🎈

Summer Nights & Flights is almost here, and the National Balloon Museum is joining the fun!

Find us on Buxton Street between Corner Sundry and the Post Office, where we'll be handing out goodies, sharing updates about our upcoming Grand Reopening, and set up with our walk-in balloon basket for your Instagram-worthy pics.

As colorful balloons fill the skies above downtown, stop by our booth to celebrate the community's rich ballooning heritage and learn how the museum is preparing for its next chapter. Whether you're a longtime supporter, a National Balloon Classic fan, or just curious about what's happening behind our doors, we'd love to visit with you.

Come enjoy the sights, sounds, shopping, food, and festivities of this uniquely Indianola evening, and don't forget to stop by and say hello!

Peekaboo, I see you! And now you can see me too! 👀

If you’ve driven by the museum lately, you may have noticed that the ditch out front got a major haircut today. The overgrowth was cleared away so we can access and repair a stormwater drain that has been in need of some attention.

It’s not the most glamorous project, but it’s an important one, and it’s always satisfying to uncover something that has been hiding in plain sight! 🚜🌿💧

We are so excited for this event in a couple weeks! We'll be there, and hope to see you too.

On this day in 1937, the Hindenburg airship crashed in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Following the crash, the catastrophe immediately ended commercial passenger-carrying rigid airship operations and transatlantic service. While the era of giant passenger zeppelins ended, smaller, non-rigid airships (blimps) continued to fly, and modernized, small luxury Zeppelins exist today.

Did you know the museum has a piece of metal from the Hindenburg? We are dedicating a significant space in the museum to airships and their place in ballooning history. We are getting closer every day to our grand reopening and are so excited to debut all the exciting artifacts!

Today I had the pleasure of hosting 19 energetic volunteers from the Human Resources team at LCS for their annual Day of Service! There was plenty of laughter, great camaraderie, and, best of all, 19 first-time visitors to the museum.

As a fun May Day bonus, everyone left with a cup of goodies 🍬🍭

Want to bring your team out for a meaningful (and genuinely fun) volunteer experience? We’d love to have you. It’s a great way to connect as a group while helping the museum move one step closer to reopening.

If your organization offers service days, let’s put it to good use! Send me a message and I’ll take care of the rest!
