How do you like The Hull Lifesaving Museum’s new paint? The red, green and cream colors are from the building’s historic past. The building has had many colors over its 137 year history.
Trivia question: How many facets are there on the red roof? Hint you cannot see them all from this photo.

Last day of 2026 “Summer Explorers”. Each day I add more independence and responsibility so that by day 3 the youths rig the entire boat with all gear and manage the launching and retrieval on the beach. This builds confidence in their maritime skills and helps prepare them for future endeavors. Let’s give a shout out to this summer’s explorers.

This is “Coastal Piloting” week at Hull Lifesaving Museum’s Summer Explorer program. First we spend time understanding all the information on a nautical chart. Then we use binoculars to correlate the information on the chart with real world observations. Finally we venture out on the water and put what we learned to practical use! We had lots of fun while learning important maritime skills.

Yesterday’s 250th celebration parade in Hull was a great success. The Hull Lifesaving Museum entered 2 boats built by Hull High school students. Maureen rode in the 18’ power boat “SSGT Emily Carroll” named after her niece (Maureen’s dog Kittery” kept her company). Family members of USMC Sergeant John D. Reilly III rode in the dory named in his honor. What a great way to honor our hero veterans by naming student built vessels after them!! Last but not least, HLM docent DJ Simon greeted spectators at the field event after the parade. , , ,

What a gorgeous evening for rowing. We had 3 boats loaded with 18 rowers and coxswains, some were new to rowing and others were well seasoned veterans. One thing they all had in common? They all had fun! ,
