Dena Kline Art

Dena Kline Art Southwest-born artist creating bold, colorful mixed media inspired by Western heritage and the American landscape.

I am a Southwestern artist inspired by the spirit and character of the American West. Born in New Mexico and raised in Oklahoma, I draw from my roots and years in commercial design to create vibrant, expressive portraits of Native American figures, cowboys, and wildlife. Working from my lake house in Southwest Oklahoma, I utilize pastel, acrylic, photography, and digital media to capture the land’

s energy and emotion. Influenced by artists like Fritz Scholder and Logan Maxwell Hagege, my work celebrates the beauty and vitality of the West. To learn more about me and my work, please visit my website at

Moody Blue

Late light tilts across a placid lake, turning the water into a band of gold and rose that runs toward a low, dark treeline. A broad, brooding cloud dominates the sky, its silvered edges and layered grays pierced by streaks of warm light that slide down to the horizon. Smaller cloud fragments and pale blue openings create a sense of depth and shifting weather, while the reflected colors on the surface soften the scene into a quiet, glowing plane.

Tall grasses in the foreground frame a simple dock whose rail and two upright posts form a gentle guide into the scene. Their fine textures and vertical lines contrast with the lake’s horizontal calm, introducing a subtle tension between motion and stillness. Sand at the water’s edge and the faint ripple of reflected light add tactile detail without drawing focus from the sky’s drama.

The composition portrays a late-evening hush that is both contemplative and slightly expectant — a brief pause between day’s warmth and night’s cool. Soft color transitions and clear structural elements make this image well suited as a calming focal point for a living room, study, or hallway.

Here is a question worth sitting with: what do you actually see when you walk into your own home?

Not what is there, but what do you still notice? What draws your eye?

What have you stopped seeing because it has been there so long?

"Dragon Fire" and the online art gallery is here, if you need to switch things up.

"Bold Bison" // https://www.denakline.com/warehouse-open-edition-prints/art_print_products/boldbison-36x24

Step into the untamed spirit of the West with "Bold Bison: A Vibrant Pastel Portrait of Nature's Strength." This artwork radiates energy through its colorful palette—fiery oranges and cool blues dance across the bison’s powerful form, echoing the wild freedom of the plains. The animal’s steady gaze invites you to connect with its quiet strength, while the softly layered hills and clouds create a sense of open space and possibility. Imagine this piece as a daily reminder of resilience and natural beauty, bringing a touch of the wild into your home and sparking conversation with every glance.
