Robert Beck attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Robert Beck is a representational painter with a cultural focus on our here-and-now and extensive bodies of work addressing Bucks County, New York, and Maine. His work has been featured in three solo museum shows. Beck is known for painting from life in active situations. This work has taken him to Europe, Africa, and across America, painting people and their occupations. Along with his regular column, West Side Canvas (for the West Side Rag, in New York), he wrote for ICON Magazine, Art New England, and Maine Boats Homes & Harbors on art-related subjects.. His career has included instructing, lecturing, hosting a radio show, and curating art exhibitions. He maintains studios in Manhattan and at Highland Art Farm in Hopewell, NJ. We are delighted to welcome Gregg Bautista to this year's Hopewell Tour Des Arts. Be sure to visit Gregg in his studio!

Gregg is a writer, visual artist, and musician born in the United States to Peruvian immigrants. A graduate of Mason Gross School of the Arts, his work explores migration, cultural assimilation, and integration, deeply informed by his Andean heritage.

His poetry has appeared in BY THE WAYE and The Red Wheelbarrow, and his artwork in New American Paintings. His music project, Yupanki, combines layered guitars and atmospheric soundscapes with stories of time migrants, memory, nature, and ancient gods. The Yupanki Project includes an EP, singles, and the illustrated chapbook Un Lugar Lejos: Valleys.

Gregg is also the founder of Echo Thread Projects and hosts Poets & Storytellers Open, a monthly poetry open mic in Hopewell, New Jersey.

We are delighted to welcome artist Sasha Appleton to this year’s Hopewell Tour Des Arts! Be sure to visit Sasha in her studio!

Originally from Cape Cod and now based in Hopewell, NJ, Sasha creates large-scale, semi-abstract landscapes exploring memory, place, and time. Her paintings reflect the beautiful contradictions found in nature—stillness and movement, chaos and order, light and darkness.

Sasha has exhibited in juried shows throughout the Northeast, including at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and Phillips’ Mill Art Association.
Her work explores natural landscapes—both real and remembered—and the places dear to her. Working spontaneously through an additive and subtractive process, she explores perspective, light, and composition, allowing each addition or erasure to guide the next. Her paintings move beyond observation to evoke something both personal and collectively experienced.

We are delighted to welcome artist Ayami Aoyama to this year’s Hopewell Tour Des Arts. Be sure to visit Ayami in her studio!

Ayami began her artistic career as a painter in Japan. During a trip to Italy in 1995, she encountered Renaissance art—an experience whose beauty and enduring power profoundly influenced her artistic path. The following year, she began exploring sculpture in New York City, where she developed a deep interest in the work and artistic philosophy of Isamu Noguchi.

Ayami holds a B.F.A. in painting from Aichi Prefectural University in Japan. She studied sculpture in New York, France, and New Jersey, including at the Art Students League of New York and the Johnson Atelier Stone Division.

She currently works as the stone-finishing supervisor for internationally renowned artist Jeff Koons at Antiquity Stone LLC. Ayami continues to create sculpture and paintings in her home studio in Hopewell, New Jersey, where she lives with her husband, artist Rory Mahon.

A wonderful throwback moment from the 2025 Hopewell Tour Des Arts! We are honored and delighted to share the music of The Three to Get Ready Band with you!

Meet the Band
Jenny Glenn (guitar and vocals) performs a wide variety of roots, Bluegrass and swinging Blues. She has played throughout the tri-state area at house concerts, cafes and farmers markets.
Joel Glassman (fiddle, mandolin and vocals) has played many styles of music, with a special love for improvisation, and swing of the 30’s and 40’s. He has performed with groups throughout the Northeast for many years.
Bill Flemer (guitar and vocals) grew up in Princeton, NJ, and since college he played bluegrass and country music with a variety of area musicians. Currently, in addition to performing with Jenny and Joel, he plays bass and sings with “Bakersfield”, a full-on, 7-piece country band.

The Hopewell Tour Des Arts will return for its 19th year on Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27, bringing more than 60 local artists and 12 bands to studios, galleries and gathering spaces throughout the Hopewell area.

Hosted by the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, the annual self-guided arts tour will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, rain or shine. Admission is free, with donations encouraged to support the Tour.

Visitors can create their own route through the weekend, traveling between individual artists’ studios and group locations throughout the Hopewell area and Sourland Mountains. The Tour will feature artists working across a range of styles and mediums, as well as participating galleries and Tour sponsors Morpeth Contemporary and Gallery 14.

Live music will also be part of this year’s event, with 12 bands performing across four stages at Hopewell Valley Stage, Highland Design Farm, the Hopewell Train Station and Calvary Baptist Church.

New Welcome Center at Hopewell Valley Stage. New this year, the recently opened Hopewell Valley Stage will serve as the Tour’s Welcome Center.
