Opening this weekend - Past Is Present, paintings by Dale Edwards
Dale Edwards’ minimalist landscapes feature straight lines, big skies, wide-open spaces, and usually at least one unassuming building. Grain elevators, mills, farm houses, buildings that are unassuming to most, but as Dale Edwards reflects, once were “new, full of promise, prosperity and plans. Today, most of these buildings remain, stuck at a crossroads of obsolescence and rebirth.”
These remarkable oil paintings of modest places are quiet, refreshing, free of clutter, meditative, indeed “feel like a deep breath.”
Opening reception and meet and greet with the artist, Saturday, Oct 10th, 4-6pm.
Exhibit open daily thru Nov 14th.
Link to online listing of all paintings in the comments, but this is definitely a show you want to see IRL.

Are you an Outlander fan?

Showing at the gallery this week only, an Outlander production panel, The Sun - one of a set of 15 large painted panels created specifically for Geillis’s still-room set in the Outlander series. The production panels include imagery from the zodiac and tarot, including Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio, The Wheel of Fortune, Justice, Eight of Swords, The Sun, and The Devil.
Each panel is quite substantial, constructed from eight pine boards. The panels first appear in season 1, episode 3, when Claire is visiting Geillis.
On view courtesy of Saltire Gallerie, Hillsborough.

“The Sun” panel is for sale and currently available:
$3500 - 37 x 55.5 in - contact the Thomas Stevens Gallery for details or to purchase.

This is a very special piece in the gallery, especially this week - Edward Bonzo's "Never Forget" lamp.

Edward says, "This lamp is a tribute to 9/11. I bought the souvenir plaque during a visit to the 9/11 Museum and Memorial last year. I installed light bulbs at the base of the proportional twin towers that project on the ceiling when lit. This year marks 25 years since the attack on NYC, America, and the world. Never Forget."

Edward Bonzo is a retired Marine Corps pilot living in Wilmington, NC.
His artwork consists of unique one-of-a-kind custom lamps and other light fixtures, often using repurposed common (sometimes uncommon) items. He has made, repurposed, or restored nearly 300 lamps since 2024. Edward has five amazing lamps in the current MOSTLY HARMLESS exhibit.

'Never Forget' is still available, contact me to purchase.
