We had the incredible honor of hosting Scout Troop 359 last weekend as Scout Jessika works toward earning her Eagle Scout designation, one of scouting's highest achievements! The troop tackled several update and renovation projects on our site with skill, enthusiasm, and teamwork that left us genuinely impressed. Getting to know each of these remarkable young people was a true highlight. Thank you, Troop 359, for your hard work and dedication, we're cheering Jessika on every step of the way! We hope to welcome more scout troops in the future, so don't hesitate to reach out!

This past Wednesday, the McCaw School of Mines Foundation kicked off our summer project list alongside dedicated friends, partners, and volunteers who came out to spruce up the grounds, and we are so grateful! 🌵☀️

A sincere thank you to all who donated their time and energy. We are especially grateful for the continued partnership of McCaw STEAM Academy in supporting our mission to preserve history, celebrate industry advances, and create meaningful learning experiences for our community.

Together, we’re building something special. ⛏️

Now that school is on summer break it's a great time to reach out to us about scheduling a tour for your group and learning how you can be involved in the work we do.

We said good luck and farewell to this year's Gordon McCaw Steam Academy 5th graders and cohort of Mighty Miners, yesterday. A Nationally Certified Demonstration Magnet School, the only CCSD school to achieve that honor in 2025; our partner, neighbor, and collaborator has achieved so much with these young students. We're thrilled to have played a small part in helping to develop curious, empowered, life long STEAM learners and future leaders. Good luck, Class of 26'!

Geology, mining, and STEAM educational are cool and all, but it's not everyday that you find yourself light saber battle adjacent at a science expo. Wonderfully packed day at Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival expo. We got the opportunity to science with hundreds of curious kids and parents over a ten hour day. Huge thanks to Mr. Bill for being so great with the kids on Saturday.

Attention: We will not be hosting our regular free admission day on the first Saturday in May.

Instead , as part of our collaboration with the Las Vegas Science and Tech Festival, we are beyond excited to see you all at the Giant Science & Technology Expo Saturday, May 2nd at World Market Center from 10AM to 5PM. We'll have a booth with mine-centric science demos, free giveaways, and information on how to be more involved with us. Admission is FREE! Share with your circle.

We will also be surrounded by amazing neighbors and experiences where you can:

National Volunteer Week was established in the United States in 1974 through a Presidential Proclamation to honor the impact of volunteers on American communities. While it started as a 1943 Canadian effort to honor women in World War II, the U.S. observance grew into a major annual celebration.

Our organization and the programs that it operates wouldn't be possible without our core of volunteers. Some are former board members, some are retires from the mining industry, some are community members like yourselves that feel inspired to support the education and continued growth of our young people. We want to take a moment to publicly thank all of our volunteers, past, present, and future for your dedication and continued support. We couldn't do this without you.

In partnership with the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival, we're thrilled to offer a special free admission day on April 25th from 9 AM to 12 PM. Bring your family and friends to our facility located at 57 Lynn Lane, Henderson, NV, and dive into the wonders of science. It's a perfect opportunity for everyone who loves science to come together and enjoy a day filled with fun and learning. Don't miss out on this exciting event!

The Mine Experience is a mining museum fashioned in a similar manner as the Indiana Jones Ride at Disneyland, the 5,100 square foot realistic model of a historic underground mine was dedicated in 1996 and is the only simulated underground mine of its kind in the state.
