Las Vegas luminaries Siegfried and Roy and a young white Siberian tiger at the grand reopening of the Liberace Museum on May 30, 2002. The three made their entrance in one of Liberace’s cars, a custom pink “Volks Royce” or Volksrolls convertible. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was also attended by Nevada Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt and Charo. The Liberace Museum operated from 1979 to 2010 on Tropicana Ave.

Happy 80th birthday to Cher! Whether performing on tour, appearing at one of her many residencies, or filming TV specials, Cher has always been a part of Las Vegas. Seen here, performing with Sonny Bono at the Flamingo in 1970 (they were the opening act for Zsa Zsa Gabor).

Discover a remarkable piece from the Heritage Gallery’s latest exhibition, “Empowered: Women of Clark County.” This show celebrates the impactful stories of fifty women who helped shape the country’s history. Today, we’re featuring a beautifully woven tea set—an artifact that tells the story of Helen Stewart, a pioneering ranch owner, and honors the artistry and cultural heritage of the Southern Paiute women who crafted it.

Visit Empowered before it closes on May 25th, 2026, and be inspired by the women who made Clark County what it is today.

The first Helldorado celebration, created in 1935 by the Las Vegas Elks, included a parade in downtown Las Vegas. Over the years, the parade changed locations, and at one point, Helldorado Days featured three parades during the weekend: a children’s parade, an “Old-timers” parade, and a “Beauty” parade. Although Helldorado Days ended in 1997, it was brought back with the help of the City of Las Vegas for the city’s Centennial in 2005.

This year’s Helldorado parade took place on Saturday, May 9th, from 10:00 am to noon, along 4th Street between Gass and Stewart Avenues. The event continues to celebrate the rich history and traditions of Las Vegas.
