Ravalli County Museum The Ravalli County Museum is the largest archival museum in the Bitter Root Valley.

It serves the public through well crafted exhibitions, educational activities, cultural events, festivals, and as the "go to" resource for historical research. The Ravalli County Museum is the caretaker for historical information, artifacts and collections for all of Ravalli County. We provide a cultural venue to enrich the experiences of our community through programming and educational opportunities for people of all ages.

Good morning, Bitter Root Valley, and happy Saturday! This week, we're featuring a Whimsey, a type of ornate, beaded cushion crafted by tribes east of the Plains, such as the Chippewa Cree, primarily for decorative purposes. These intricate pieces often showcased slogans, dates, and names of popular tourist destinations. This particular Whisey dates back to 1880.

In preparation for our Cowboy Poetry & Music event this Friday, we are pleased to share a historic photograph of the XIT Cattle roundup, featuring a wagon and 165 saddle ponies, circa 1900, on the range by Charley Creek (Burns Creek). Notably, several cowboys depicted in this image have been identified, including Charles Harmon Poppe, Sam Payne, and Robert Shannon.
