Another Pot Club experiment by Laughing Mule Press that got a good response so a few more of these turquoise and salmon-colored pottery plates are in the works! 🐴🩵

These are still in progress, with just the colored slip applied so far. They'll get a clear glaze next, then head into the kiln before eventually making their way down to Nest and Niche!

I made the horse designs using little masks I cut out of paper, then hand-painted the tiny hearts. ❤️

Can't wait to see how they turn out after firing!

This might not look like a typical Laughing Mule Press art post, but I promise there’s an art connection! 😁

I just acquired this old horse sweep (from the amazing Marvin Brisk) because I want to use mule power to process wood for my picture frames instead of relying on electricity.

For those unfamiliar, a horse sweep is a piece of equipment that uses horses (or mules!) walking in a circle to power other machinery. This one can be run by one or two mules.

I’ve been using my mules to log trees from my property and cut it into slabs with a chainsaw mill. Now I’m getting a drag saw that I can power with the sweep to cut those slabs into smaller pieces that I can manage on the planer before turning them into frames.

I got the sweep staked down and took it for a test run this morning. It works great! I’m pretty excited about putting the mules to work on another part of the frame-making process.

More mule-powered adventures coming soon! 🐴
