We know there is a possibility of rain in the forecast for Saturday, but don't let a little rain keep you from stepping back in time with us! 🏛️🍂

We want everyone to know that John Lawson Legacy Days is moving forward as planned! We have worked incredibly hard to bring you a wonderful weekend of history, heritage, and family fun, and we're not going to let a few raindrops dampen our spirits!

🏛️ We have plenty of activities and exhibits INSIDE the museum, so even if Mother Nature decides to send a few showers our way, there will still be lots to see, do, and enjoy!

Come explore history, meet our wonderful participants, learn something new, and experience all that John Lawson Legacy Days has to offer!

❤️ Our volunteers, demonstrators, reenactors, and participants have put so much time and effort into making this event special, and the best way you can support them is by showing up!

☔ Bring an umbrella, grab a rain jacket just in case, and come make some memories with us!

While you’re at John Lawson Legacy Days, don’t forget to step inside the Grifton Historical Museum!

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate **50 years of the Grifton Historical Museum** preserving the artifacts, stories, traditions, and memories of Grifton and the surrounding Eastern North Carolina community.

John Lawson Legacy Days brings history to life all across the grounds, but inside the museum you can take an even closer look at the people and stories that helped shape the area we call home.

Make time to explore the exhibits, ask questions, and maybe discover a piece of local history you never knew was right in your own backyard.

Join us **October 16–18, 2026**, as we celebrate **250 years of America, 50 years of the Grifton Historical Museum, and 15 years of John Lawson Legacy Days.**

We had such a great time participating in the Ayden Collard Festival Parade yesterday! A huge thank you to the organizers for allowing us to be a part of such a wonderful community tradition. We enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces along the parade route! 😊

🏛️ Grifton Museum Update

The Grifton Museum will remain closed this Sunday, September 6th, as we continue working to get everything ready to welcome you back.

The good news is—we’re getting very close! 🎉 We appreciate everyone’s patience and support, and we hope to have our doors open again very soon.

We can’t wait to see everyone back at the museum down by the creek! ❤️

🚧 Temporary Closure Notice 🚧

The Grifton Museum will be closed until further notice as we complete renovations and improvements to better serve our visitors.

While our doors may be temporarily closed, we're still hard at work preparing for John Lawson Legacy Days, coming October 16–18! We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting weekend celebrating Grifton's rich history and heritage.

Please stay tuned to our page for updates. We'll announce our reopening as soon as we're ready.
