Another wonderful Bourbon 🥃 experience with our friends Eric and Julie Norden!

We learned so much about Prohibition, the roles of women in bourbon history, German ancestry connections, Kentucky heritage, and many other fascinating stories along the way. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event such a success.

Stay tuned—we're already discussing a German cultural event this Oktober (National Family History Month) with a similar format. We can't wait to share more details!

As a courtesy to our presenters and fellow guests, we kindly ask attendees to be mindful of side conversations during programs. Personal discussions can make it difficult for others to hear and enjoy the presentation, so please save those conversations for before, after, or outside the program area.

Thank you for helping us create an enjoyable experience for everyone!

"If you're referring to Louden Machinery Company, it was a historic company based in Fairfield. Founded by William Louden in the late 1800s, it became known for hay carriers, barn equipment, door hangers, cattle watering systems, and later overhead monorail and material-handling equipment. The company reportedly designed more than 25,000 barns through its architectural planning service.

Its industrial material-handling systems were used in major manufacturing and wartime projects, and the Louden name continued on overhead conveying equipment after the original company changed ownership." Chat G P T gave us that explanation

More to the story...

Two crates containing this type of equipment were left at “Watson and Lash” (spelling uncertain), a former hardware store on Washington Street in Napoleon. The items were donated to the Henry County Historical Society by the Reese family many years ago. After the closure of the HCHS Museum (now the Four Corners Heritage Center), the artifacts remained in storage. We recently opened one of the crates, and the accompanying photos show what was uncovered. We believe the object may be a feed wagon or feed truck. The second crate has not yet been opened and appears to contain a similar, though slightly different, piece of equipment.

Each day at sunset, as part of the ODVS Ohio Taps Project, we pay tribute to an Ohioan who died while serving our country.

Tonight, we salute Air Force Lt. Col. Kevin H. Sonnenberg, from McClure, Ohio, who died on June 15, 2007, when his F-16 fighter crashed shortly after takeoff from Balad Air Base in Iraq.
