American Farm Heritage Museum

American Farm Heritage Museum "Preserving Our American Rural Heritage"
Founded in 2002 Our grounds are right off I-70 and easy to find! There is something for everyone in the family.

In April 2002 a group of farmers, collectors, governmental representatives and civic leaders gathered to share a dream of building a museum to preserve our farm heritage. With Greenville, IL (Bond County), being in the heart of the agriculture community and almost in the middle of the United States, it was the was the perfect place to turn this dream into a reality. Our main building is 16,000 sq

ft and can be rented for special events. Our other buildings house permanent farm machinery displays featuring equipment of all colors, while another contains a revolving display area and small collections depicting the history of rural America. Outside we have a picnic area, a grain silo pavilion and a small playground for children with farm related things to do. The American Heritage Railroad group offer train rides every Saturday from May through October and during the Christmas Lights Wonderland. The museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible. CAN YOU HELP? Of course you can! Here's how:

•Believe in our mission, get involved and attend our public events.

•Write a letter of support, make suggestions, or make a monetary donation.

•Join our organization. Membership is $15 per year or a $2,500 donation for a lifetime membership.

It’s construction season for our vintage “peg” barn! What’s a “peg” barn??? We’ll, it’s a barn that’s made by using mortice and tenon joints and then securing them with a wooden peg that gets driven into each half of the joint. You’ll see some in these pics. Enjoy!

Special thanks to Tom Richter for getting a crew together to do this project and for donating the money to make it happen!!!
