Help Save our History!

Did you know the Historic Grant Depot was used as a training house for our local First Responders? After the train stopped...stopping... the depot was moved to county property near Valkaria Park (It's seen some things- and stood through some business!)

The Historical Society in the 1990s banded together to bring the depot "home" to it's current location; adjacent to the Bensen House at Fisherman's Landing Park.

The ladies held Fish Frys, made jams and jellies to sell, quilts, spaghetti dinners, and created a cookbook to fund the massive project. We even find quick scratches of recipes written on the back of typewritten minutes from county meetings and state permits. (Clearly, the TOP SECRET recipes!).

Once funded and moved to it's current location- the depot also received a bright and shiny makeover.

Like many things from the late 1900s - the Historic Grant Depot is in need of a little fine tuning and a little facelift. We are in desperate need of a new roof and other preventative maintenance to preserve the depot for another generation.

We can't sell jams and jellies like we used to... but, if you are able to help us with a small (or large...) donation - we may surprise you with a recipe to your email from our original "Treasures From Grant" cookbook... Frog Eye Salad? Honey Cake? Florida Jambalaya?... Only one way to find out!! 😎💰💰
