HD SOUTH - Home of the Gilbert Historical Museum HD SOUTH is the center for arts and culture in Gilbert and we are also the only museum in Gilbert! We have on-going programs and events for people of all ages!

We pride ourselves in the archives we've gathered and preserved over the years. HD SOUTH, located at the southern end of the vibrant Gilbert Heritage District, is so much more than the home of the Gilbert Historical Museum. Bring your lunch and join HD SOUTH and Literally, A Bookshop , who have partnered to host a . The Lunch Hour Book 📚 Club meets twice a month, and the book selection will be discussed over the course of the two sessions.

This month’s book is Tata by Valerie Perrin. “When Agnes hears from the local police her Aunt Colette has died, she can’t believe her ears. Her father’s sister, her Tata, died three years ago but when Agnes is called to identify the body: there is no doubt, it’s Aunt Colette. There are still some spots available our HISTORY OF RAILROADS program tomorrow evening! September 1, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

Ride the rails with historian David Doiron, as he shares his knowledge of Arizona’s railway system using photographs, artifacts, and maps. Participants will be able to handle and examine relics of including a piece of rail from the Gold Spike ceremony at Promontory. Ages 14 and up.

Live Quilting Bee at HD SOUTH!

In the Home Life Room, you’ll find volunteers demonstrating their quilting skills. A group of quilters are usually here most Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

Anyone is welcome to join the group. Whether you are an experienced needleworker, or an amateur who has never picked up a needle, the group will happily share their skills with you. Our volunteers complete unfinished quilt tops for the public, with all proceeds going to HD SOUTH.
