🇺🇸 Help Shape the Future of a Historic Trail in Cherokee County!

The Carolina Rising Museum is excited to share an opportunity for our community to help preserve and celebrate an important piece of Revolutionary War history.

The Federal Highway Administration, in partnership with Cherokee County, the Carolina Thread Trail, and the National Park Service, is conducting a preliminary engineering study for approximately 26 miles of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, connecting Cherokee County to Kings Mountain National Military Park.

This project has the potential to honor the route of the Overmountain Men while creating new opportunities for walking, biking, recreation, tourism, and community connectivity.

📅 Attend a public meeting and share your ideas:

Cherokee County is helping shape the future of one of South Carolina's most significant historic treasures—and we want your input.

The Federal Highway Administration, in partnership with Cherokee County, Carolina Thread Trail, and the National Park Service, has launched a preliminary engineering study for approximately 26 miles of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail connecting Cherokee County to Kings Mountain National Military Park.

This study will help guide the future design of a trail that could safely connect walkers, hikers, and bicyclists to communities, parks, and natural resources throughout Cherokee County while honoring the route that played a pivotal role in the American Revolution.

Community feedback is essential. Join us at one of two public meetings to learn more and share your ideas.
