Event Hall — Room for up to 200 guests, with tables, chairs, a catering kitchen, and bar space.
Foyer — A welcoming setting for up to 100 guests, with views of the historic mustering grounds.
Mustering Grounds — More than three acres of fenced greenspace with a covered pavilion for outdoor gatherings.

There was just too much fun and learning to fit into one post!

Here are a few more moments from our inaugural Possum Trot Schoolhouse Experience on September 25. From the classroom to historic recess and exploring the Museum, our students made history while learning about it.

What a wonderful day at the Cherokee County Museum!

On Friday, September 25, 2026, fourth-grade students stepped back in time for our inaugural Possum Trot Schoolhouse Experience!

We were excited to welcome:
Mrs. Holly Glover’s 4th Grade Class – Grassy Pond Elementary
Mrs. Ann Whiteside’s 4th Grade Class – Grassy Pond Elementary
Mrs. Sophia Parker’s 4th Grade Class – Limestone Central Elementary

Students experienced what school was like more than a century ago through slate writing, recitations, mental math, and historic recess games including Graces, hoop rolling, jacks, marbles, and jump rope.

Congratulations to Mrs. Glover’s class, our Community Choice Award winner!

Thank you to our students, teachers, Museum staff, and volunteers who made this first Possum Trot Schoolhouse Experience such a special day.

Today, we didn’t just teach history. We stepped inside it!
