Step inside the creative process with Carolina Oliveros () at ArtYard!✨

Colombian-born, Brooklyn-based artist Carolina Oliveros joins us for a work-in-progress showing of Ya Rompimos el Silencio, her first solo studio album, reimagined as a theatrical live performance.

Rooted in her Afro-Caribbean heritage, Oliveros’s work weaves together hypnotic percussion, layered vocals, traditional drums, and improvisation to explore lineage, spirituality, and resistance. During her ArtYard residency, she and her collaborators are bringing this bold, experimental sound to the stage through music, movement, and visual storytelling.

Experience Lonnie Holley live at ArtYard this Sunday! 🎤🎼

Known for his improvisational approach to music, Lonnie Holley moves fluidly between song, spoken word, storytelling, and spontaneous musical exploration. Drawing on a lifetime of experience and observation, he transforms memory and history into something soulful, searching, and alive.

As The New York Times puts it, Holley never plays a song twice — not even his own. Every performance is a unique act of creation, unfolding in the moment.

Join us for this special evening following Holley’s summer residency at ArtYard and just one week before the opening of 'How We Got Over,' his new exhibition featuring works created during his residency alongside selections spanning more than five decades of artistic practice.

Coming October 24: National Portrait Beauty Gallery, a celebration of people, connection, and the brilliance we all carry. ✨

Who gets to be seen, remembered, and celebrated in a portrait? National Portrait Beauty Gallery reimagines a tradition historically associated with power and privilege, bringing together portraits that honor the beauty, complexity, and individuality of people across our communities.

Featuring artists from Creative Growth, Studio Route 29, Pure Vision, Center for Creative Works, and other supported studios, the exhibition celebrates the creativity of artists with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities and the relationships, care, and community that make their work possible.

Spanning two galleries in Frenchtown, this exhibition invites us to pause, look closely, and recognize one another's brilliance.

Coming October 24: Gleam, a new exhibition by Dean Millien () and Jude Tallichet (.tallichet). ✨

What happens when everyday aluminum foil becomes a world of fantastical creatures, imaginary childhood companions, and objects teetering on the edge of collapse?

In Gleam, artists Dean Millien and Jude Tallichet transform humble materials into mesmerizing sculptures that invite us to look closer. Tallichet captures, folds, and reshapes familiar objects, while Millien draws on cartoons, animals, and childhood imagination to create unlikely heroes and otherworldly forms.

Created in part during a residency partnership between ArtYard and Studio Route 29, these works explore how even the simplest materials can hold memory, imagination, and wonder.

LET IT OUT! One week until An Evening with singular artist, musician, and storyteller Lonnie Holley () on Sunday, Oct. 18!

Lonnie brings his improvisational approach to music and art to the McDonnell Theater stage ahead of the opening of "How We Got Over."

Lonnie has toured extensively across the United States, Europe, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand, sharing stages with Bon Iver, Animal Collective, Deerhunter, Bill Callahan, Saul Williams, Tinariwen, Daniel Lanois, and many others.
