We recently were made aware of a post on our Oktoberfest event page from someone purporting to be from Frederick County Landmarks Foundation. The post was soliciting vendors for Oktoberfest at Schifferstadt using a personal account. The post has been removed. We do not solicit vendors in this way and any legitimate correspondence will be conducted through a fredericklandmarks.org account.

Our president!

Landmarks President Jennie Russell explains the role of the organization and its accomplishments over time.

Another Plaque Awarded:

Howard Courtney Nicodemus, a veteran and Frederick County native, has lived for more than 20 years in a house built after 1860 on South St. west of Market downtown. He's a real force in the neighborhood, with patriotic emblems on his door and treats on hand for the neighborhood dogs. During Covid, he helped persuade many owners on the block to put out blue lights to honor first responders. With change and new construction on the march in the historic neighborhood, Mr. Nicodemus wanted to make a visible salute to its past and the result is Plaque #449, awarded June 17 by a delegation from the Foundation's plaque committee. .

Volunteers and staff at the C. Burr Artz Public Library's Maryland Room Frederick County Public Libraries assisted in assembling information for Mr. Nicodemus's application, as they had for Darnell Leslie's the month before.
