The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is a leader in collecting, showing, and interpreting art from the 1940s to the present. Situated in the heart of the Cultural District, the creative center of the city, the Modern has been housed since 2002 in an elegant concrete, glass, and steel building designed by the renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando. In addition to 53,000 square feet of soaring, light-filled gallery space and landscaped grounds with outdoor sculptures, the museum features a reflecting pond, theater, elegant private event facilities, education center, gift shop, and café, creating a thriving hub for our community and beyond.

Enjoy the fall weather, bring your friends and a blanket, and join us for a screening of Tim Burton’s "Frankenweenie" on the Modern’s lawn, Friday, October 23 at 8 pm! Tickets are only $10 ($7 for Modern members and free for children under 17).

Film on the Lawn: "Frankenweenie," is presented in conjunction with ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀᴋɪɴɢ: ᴛʜᴇ sᴄᴜʟᴘᴛᴜʀᴇ ᴘʀᴏᴊᴇᴄᴛ, a series of art-making activities for all ages and skill levels during October. Thank you to our partners, The Reel House Foundation . Come early and enjoy Pizza on the Patio at Cafe Modern and create your very own metal and embossed leaf, transforming the reflecting pond and landscape near "Conjoined,” the stainless steel double tree form sculpture by Roxy Paine. Doors open at 7 pm to the lawn, and the screening begins at 8 pm. Please no pets, personal coolers, drinks, food, or lawn chairs.

Create your very own leaf to collectively contribute to the ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴀɴᴅsᴄᴀᴘᴇ ᴘʀᴏᴊᴇᴄᴛ, inspired by Roxy Paine’s sculpture “Conjoined”, a large stainless steel double tree form placed on our lawn. Join us tomorrow, Saturday, October 10 from 10 am–5 pm for hands-on artmaking with artists Trey Burns and Tamara Johnson of Sweet Pass Sculpture Park!

Sculpture ROCKS! as part of ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀᴋɪɴɢ: ᴛʜᴇ sᴄᴜʟᴘᴛᴜʀᴇ ᴘʀᴏᴊᴇᴄᴛ invites visitors of all ages and skill levels to collectively design and build rock forms. Using works from the Modern’s collection and our Tadao Ando building as inspiration, create large sculptural towers and vertical monuments using works. This year’s Teen/Artist Project (TAP) students recently joined a tour of “Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers” with the Modern’s Chief Curator Andrea Karnes.

The Modern’s TAP program includes seventeen high school students that are selected through a portfolio and application process, for an eight-month course that meets every week at the Modern. This demanding yet rewarding program partners with artists and museum professionals to expand the art practice and knowledge of young, aspiring student artists.

The 2026–27 TAP student roster includes Andrea Aguilar, Trinyti Beasley, Anaiah Brooks, Sanjay Budda, Iola Chesney, Teddy Cordell, Elly Corona, Beetle Fenoglio, Haylei Hamilton, Arianna Hernandez, Kaitlyn Hooten, Ruby Macnab, Avni Montoya, Andrea Paredes, Iksh*ta Sutrave, Valeria Trevino, Diana Uytingco, and Pragati Vinothkumar.

Artist Rashid Johnson is celebrating his birthday today (and shares it with his son)! Join us for the closing weekend of the exhibition “Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers.” Enjoy free admission all weekend: Friday, September 25, through the last day of the show on Sunday, September 27. Plus special performances, tours, film screenings, and more!

We’re open late tonight, Friday, September 25 until 8 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am–5 pm.
