Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear hard hats and climb power lines. 💙⚡

In the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias, thousands of linemen from across the country have traveled miles from home, leaving their families behind to help our communities get back on their feet. They've worked tirelessly, around the clock, often in difficult conditions, and we couldn't be more grateful.

We want to give a special shoutout to the incredible crew from Vision Utilities Inc. who came all the way from NEW JERSEY to help restore power to the Science Center! We even got to introduce them to a few of our animal ambassadors for a well-deserved break. 🐍🦎

To every lineman out there working long hours to bring the lights back on, THANK YOU! Your hard work, dedication, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed. We appreciate you! 👏 💙

Happy Ada Lovelace Day! ✨

Today we're celebrating a pioneer in STEM and one of our very own animal ambassadors! 🐍

Ada Lovelace was a mathematician widely recognized as the world's first computer programmer. In 1843, she published an algorithm for an early mechanical computer and envisioned a future where computers could do more than just crunch numbers! 💻

And who better to help us celebrate than Lovelace, our very own corn snake named in her honor!
Here's to the incredible women who continue to inspire curiosity and innovation in STEM! 💜

This month, our Girls Empowered with Math and Science Workshop is all about Mary Anning, the groundbreaking paleontologist who began making major fossil discoveries at just 12 years old! 💜

Students will learn how fossils form, uncover artificial bones in a hands-on fossil dig, and explore ancient creatures like the ichthyosaur and plesiosaur. Plus, we’ll have a special bearded dragon Animal Ambassador joining us! 🦎

🌟 Meet the Fam Friday! 🌟

This month, meet Kate, our Development & Marketing Coordinator! ✨

Kate wears a LOT of hats around the Science Center. She handles everything from grants, marketing, and graphic design to fundraising and special events. If you’re a homeschool family, there’s also a pretty good chance she’s the person behind those emails helping you get your classes scheduled! 📧

Her favorite part of working here? The people! Kate loves being part of such a dynamic team where everyone brings something different to the table. A very close second is that no two days are ever the same, so boring days are basically nonexistent around here. 😄

Her favorite exhibit is our LiteZilla because, in her words, as an Elder Millennial, a giant Lite-Brite is pretty much the coolest thing ever. 🌈 Honorable mention goes to all of our adorable Animal Ambassadors, of course. 🐍🦎🐢

Outside of the Science Center, Kate loves baking and decorating cakes and has been sharing her creations and recipes online for more than a decade. So yes, she is absolutely the person you want invited to your party. 🎂

And one more fun fact: Kate is an INFJ, considered one of the rarest Myers-Briggs personality types. Does that make her feel a little special? Absolutely. 😂

We’re so glad Kate is part of our Science Center family! 💙

Such a great conference! Our team learned so much! Thanks United Way Emerald Coast for hosting such a fun event! 💙

Who else had an AMAZING time today at United for Impact: A Non-Profit Conference?! 🙋‍♀️ We know we did!!!!

Thank you to everyone who spent the day with us learning, connecting, sharing ideas, and investing in the work happening across the Emerald Coast. We loved seeing so many non-profit professionals, volunteers, partners, and friends all in one place!
