For Monday, 12 Oct, the museums are going to remain closed until further notice. We have several large trees down on the buildings and museum grounds. There is also significant water damage inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum. See the City's page for more news on what facilities are open.
Some City of Fort Walton Beach offices and facilities are still without power, and some have water and/or other storm damage.
Our employees has been working since the storm passed to make sure city services are up and running as soon as possible.

✅CITY PARKS-All city parks will reopen Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, with some limitations.
Ferry Park has many downed trees, and one of the disc golf holes (14) is unplayable. The boat ramp at Garniers Beach is currently blocked. There are still many downed trees and much storm debris at our parks.
Our parks staff will be working to clean up the parks. Please be patient and know that it will take some time to bring our parks back to “pre-storm” condition.
✅BEAL MEMORIAL CEMETERY-Will reopen with normal hours at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026. We have cleared many of the downed trees, but it will take time to clear away all the storm debris. For more information, contact Cemetery Manager Janice Rogers at 850-833-9618.
✅FORT WALTON BEACH RECREATION CENTER-Will reopen Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, with normal hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. For more information, call the Recreation Center at 850-833-9576.
✅PRESTON HOOD ATHLETIC COMPLEX-Has sustained damage to fences and lighting and will be closed indefinitely. We will provide updates on this facility as we get them.
✅FORT WALTON BEACH GOLF CLUB-
📌📌📌📌 UPDATED 10/13/2026 📌📌📌📌We have reopened the driving range at the Fort Walton Beach Golf Club and now have a daily Trackman Tournament. Also, the Clubhouse Grill is open daily 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Oaks and Pines Courses are still closed to golfers and walkers, with numerous trees down on both courses. Currently we're estimating the courses will be closed for at least a week, but we hope to have a firm reopening date soon.
✅Fort Walton Beach Public Library-Will reopen Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library will be open the remainder of the week: from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Next week, the library will resume its normal schedule of Tuesday through Saturday service.
✅City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center:
📌📌📌📌 UPDATED 10/13/2026 📌📌📌📌 We have reopened. The historic buildings and the museum store are open, but the museum gallery remains closed as we work to dry the carpeting. Also, we have no internet service and no ability to process credit cards, so we can we can accept cash at this time.
Please use the public parking lot on the east side of the building (across from the food trucks) and enter from the side facing U.S. Highway 98.
✅SANITATION SERVICES (trash, recycling, and yard waste)
Residential and commercial trash and recycling collection will resume on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, with normal schedules. Please note, we added an additional day of trash collection and have reorganized our recycling routes as of Monday, Oct. 5, 2026. You may now have a different recycling pickup day. Please note: We have contracted with DRC Emergency Services to collect yard waste and storm debris for the next 2-3 weeks. Please place all vegetative yard waste and storm-related construction debris at curbside, well away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, and above-ground utilities.

✅CITY COUNCIL- Due to power outage and water damage, this week’s City Council meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, will be moved to the Growth Management conference room (105 Miracle Strip Parkway). The agenda will be abbreviated to reduce the demand on the limited seating capacity.
