We love being on the Empire State Trail 🚵‍♀️

If you're out for a ride this weekend, we hope you'll stop by! We have picnic tables in the shade for you to enjoy, and plenty to learn from our outdoor signage. Of course, you're welcome to stay for a tour too🕰️

The Museum is closed today, June 19th 2026, in observance of Juneteenth. This Federal Holiday commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Our Solomon Northup exhibit houses many artifacts from that dark period in our nation's history, preserved so that we can learn from them and honor the lives of people like Solomon who helped to move our nation forward.

The Museum will re-open for tours tomorrow from 1 to 4 PM . Our grounds are open every day from dawn to dusk.

Our last field trip of the season was the 4th grade from Fort Edward School🛩 We had a great day of local history at the museum and Lock 7 NYS Canals

We were honored to receive this Betsy Ross commemorative flag from the WoodmenLife - Glens Falls, NY Chapter 461, presented to us by Washington County, NY Historian Tom Ruffing, along with Washington County NY Tourism Washington County Historical Society in honor of our nation's 250th Anniversary 🎉

In between tours of Rogers Island Visitors Center and Museum, Our Museum, and NYS Canal Corporation Lock 7, students from Cambridge Central School enjoyed a picnic lunch underneath our trees. Thanks for visiting today!

Congratulations to the 2026 Riverside Schoolbell Award Honorees: Kathy Chance, Pat Niles, and John Strough.

Every year the Fort Edward Historical Association honors retired educators who have made a significant difference in their students’ lives and the school community as a whole.

We had a lovely ceremony this evening on the lawn of the Riverside School House. The Honorees were introduced with glowing words from their colleagues and, in one case, one of their former teachers. It was inspiring to hear of the ways these individuals influenced the lives of the many students they saw throughout their long careers. We applaud their passion for teaching and their service to their community that has continued in their retirement.

4th grade students from Greenwich CSD joined us today for tours of The Old Fort House, Rogers Island Visitors Center and Museum and the NYS Canal Corporation lock 7. They learned about local history beginning with the forming of Roger's Rangers🪖 during The French and Indian War, through the modern use of our Canal system 🛶and plenty in between🕰️
